At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees, no surprises, and no tradeoffs on what matters most. The Payments International Engineering team builds and operates the systems that enable bank and card payments across Affirm's international markets. Based in Europe, with teammates across the UK, Spain and Poland, we give customers familiar, local ways to pay, while building shared capabilities that make expansion into each new country easier. Our work spans improving existing payment experiences and building the foundations for launches in new countries. We solve challenges across currencies and local customer needs, creating reusable solutions that support Affirm's international ambitions. We work closely with product and engineering teams across Affirm, connecting the customer experience with the financial systems behind it. We own our work from design through to production, combining the pace of international expansion with the reliability, security and operational readiness that payments demand. Testing, monitoring and supporting our systems are integral to how we build. As a growing team, we also shape the architecture, tools and engineering practices that support this growth. Joining Payments International means helping build the foundations of a global payments platform, with a direct connection between the systems we create and the customers Affirm can serve. At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees, no surprises, and no tradeoffs on what matters most. Affirm's engineering team is building a large-scale, fault-tolerant, and global infrastructure that is shared across multiple financial products, merchants, and vendors. Ensuring that our infrastructure is transparently available to all engineers is critical to the success of the business. We pride ourselves on our culture across engineering of writing blameless postmortems as well as writing detailed tech specs and gathering feedback before large changes to systems. The AI Platform team owns Affirm's paved path for building, running, evaluating, and governing AI systems. Our customers are not only Affirm users, but also every engineer and a growing set of production workloads at Affirm. As a team, we are responsible for building and exposing simple, governed interfaces to models, tools, and agents, with identity, cost attribution, reliability, and security built in. Examples of components we own include the LLM Gateway that fronts every approved model (Claude, ChatGPT, and open-weight models across AWS Bedrock and other providers), the MCP Gateway that mediates and audits tool calls, the Agent Runtime that gives agentic workloads bounded execution, and the evals and observability layer that tells teams whether an AI change is better, cheaper, or safe to ship. We are early: the gateway is in daily use across engineering, the first production agent is live, and the next year takes us from developer productivity to production inference and agents. What You'll Do Plan, execute, and own technical decisions and projects within the AI Platform team, from design through launch and on-call. Design and build the gateway, runtime, and evaluation services that take AI workloads at Affirm from pilot to production, securely scaling across millions of users and their transactions. Make AI spend attributable and governable: build the identity, quota, routing, caching, and failover controls that let teams adopt new models and tools without re-solving the same platform problems. Partner with security, infrastructure, and product engineering teams to set the guardrails for agentic workloads and the on-behalf-of identity model for tool access. Create and monitor metrics for your team's systems, and own the operational health of what you ship: monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and on-call. Set and improve code review and design standards, and advocate for them beyond your team through writing and tech talks. Use AI tools and agentic workflows every day as a multiplier for your own code, design review, and operations, and push the team on what a small AI-native team can deliver. Educate, mentor, and grow engineers in the team, and drive best practices around design, coding, and testing. What We Look For You have 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin. You have a track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes. You have practical experience building with LLMs, agents, or AI frameworks in production: inference APIs, LLM gateways (LiteLLM or similar), MCP, tool calling, evals, or agent runtimes. You understand AI usage and the infrastructure needed to support and leverage AI workloads across different disciplines. You have experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design. From Fivetran's founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We're proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven. About Fivetran Fivetran is the global leader in automated data movement, helping organizations centralize data from hundreds of sources into the destinations that power their analytics and AI. Our Databases product area is core to that mission: we build the connectors and underlying engine that reliably, securely, and efficiently move data out of the systems enterprises run their business on, and into the modern destinations they analyze it in. About the Role Fivetran's Databases portfolio spans source connectors for the OLTP and legacy systems enterprises depend on — Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, SAP, and more — as well as the destination connectors (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, and others) that land that data for analytics and AI use cases. Underneath both sides sits a shared core data processing engine that captures, transforms, and loads data reliably at scale across Fivetran's 700+ connectors. We're hiring a Product Manager to help define what's next for the portfolio. This is a technically-oriented, high-leverage role for someone who wants to own roadmap decisions that sit close to the metal — replication mechanics, schema handling, CDC — while still being fluent in the business case (ARR, customer focus, competitive dynamics) that justifies the investment. You'll partner closely with the engineering teams building and improving connectors, work with the sales and marketing teams to launch new features and drive adoption, and with company leadership to influence product strategy. What You'll Do Identify and prioritize the highest-impact opportunities for new Fivetran database source connectors and destination connectors, grounded in customer demand, competitive gaps, and revenue potential. Partner with engineering leadership on platform features to shape the roadmap for how data is captured, transformed, and loaded reliably at scale across every connector that depends on it. Write and evangelize clear PRDs that translate customer and market signals into specs engineering can build against with minimal back-and-forth. Own roadmaps end-to-end: discovery, prioritization, spec, build partnership, launch, and post-launch iteration. Deeply analyze market and customer behavioral data to drive evidence-based product investments. Engage directly with customers, prospects, and field teams (Sales, Solutions Engineering, Support) to validate problems and de-risk investments before committing engineering resources. Represent the Databases product area in cross-functional planning. What We're Looking For 5+ years of product management experience with significant exposure to data infrastructure, databases, ETL/ELT systems Comfort operating at technical depth (schema design, replication mechanics, CDC, data types) and business altitude (ARR, TAM, competitive positioning) in the same day. A track record of owning outcomes for complex, engineering-heavy roadmaps Strong written and verbal communication skills: PRDs, feature briefs, and roadmap narratives that engineering and executives can act on without additional translation. Bonus: direct experience with database internals, log-based CDC, or building/operating a data replication or processing engine. Perks and Benefits 100% employer-paid medical insurance Generous paid time away from work, including paid vacation or flexible/unlimited vacation depending on role and country, plus paid sick time, inclusive parental leave, paid holidays, including a year-end Global Week of Rest, and volunteer days off. RSU stock grants Professional development and training opportunities Company virtual happy hours, free food, and fun team-building activities Monthly cell phone stipend Access to an innovative mental health support platform that offers personalized care and resources in areas such as: therapy, coaching, and self-guided mindfulness exercises for all covered employees and their covered dependents. * May vary by country and worker type - please reach out to your recruiter for more information Click here to learn more about Fivetran's Benefits by Region.
