Community Crisis Investigator

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The Community You Will Join: When a significant severe safety incident impacts, or threatens to impact, our community or company, the Community Crisis Management (CCM) team works to coordinate a swift and effective response across the company to mitigate any continued damage. The team is responsible and accountable for immediate decisions, managing the cross-functional response to severe safety crises on the platform, keeping Airbnb leadership properly informed and involved, and for alerting relevant team leaders to any root causes or vulnerabilities that may have been uncovered throughout the response. The Difference You Will Make: As a Community Crisis Investigator, you carry your own caseload and run the day-to-day response, with a defined check-in point for the calls that set precedent or carry external exposure. You assess incidents and bring what you learn back to the team.  A Typical Day: Crisis Case Work Assess incoming incidents and recommend whether a case meets the threshold for crisis implementation, drafting summaries concise and comprehensive enough that the decision-maker can act on them without sending them back. Outline and drive the case management actions needed for stakeholders to respond effectively, keeping the response moving inside the incident's timeline. Research case precedent and consult stakeholders when a case does not fit an established pattern, and bring your recommended option with its reasoning rather than an open question. Prepare concise overviews and next steps for urgent, monitoring, or implemented cases, and note team updates or housekeeping items during regional check-ins. Communication and Stakeholder Management Draft crisis case communication for senior stakeholders, and supply the case detail and assessment that executive notifications are built from. Keep stakeholders and GCM (Global Crisis Management) leadership current on case status proactively, before they ask. Hold day-to-day communication with your assigned cross-functional partners: maintain regular contact, come prepared to the agenda, and bring what you learn back to the global GCM team. Systemic Improvement Flag where policy, product, or process failed the community member, with enough specificity that the owning team can act. The goal is closing the gap that allowed the incident, not only resolving the incident. Keep the case management tool accurate for your own cases and raise data or backlog problems you notice, so the team's view of the global caseload stays trustworthy. Team Contribution Review peers' assessments as a second pair of eyes before submission, checking for errors, missing stakeholders, and recommendations worth adding. Share what you learn from your cases and stakeholder relationships with the team. Contribute to team culture and to a working environment where people can do this work sustainably. Operational Rigor Maintain case documentation and trackers to a standard that supports accurate analytics and clean handoffs within and across regions. Complete work within the dedicated SLAs, and raise it early when a case is at risk of slipping rather than after it has. Your Expertise: 6+ years of experience in customer support or front-line work handling escalated, sensitive cases, including crisis or survivor-facing work such as a crisis line, victim advocacy, emergency response, or trust and safety. Proven track record of working collaboratively with multi-functional leads in a matrixed organization. Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to stay focused with a calm demeanor in stressful situations. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed. Your Location: This position is Canada - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. While the position is Remote Eligible, you must live in a province where Airbnb Canada, Inc. has a registered entity. Currently we can hire in the following provinces: Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. This list is continuously evolving, so please check back with your recruiter on what provinces you are eligible to work from. Our Commitment To Inclusion & Belonging: Airbnb is committed to working with the broadest talent pool possible. We believe diverse ideas foster innovation and engagement, and allow us to attract creatively-led people, and to develop the best products, services and solutions. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. We strive to also provide a disability inclusive application and interview process. If you are a candidate with a disability and require reasonable accommodation in order to submit an application, please contact us at: reasonableaccommodations@airbnb.com. Please include your full name, the role you're applying for and the accommodation necessary to assist you with the recruiting process. We ask that you only reach out to us if you are a candidate whose disability prevents you from being able to complete our online application. We use automated tools to help our recruiting team efficiently screen a large volume of applications. All final hiring decisions are made by a human reviewer. This role is for an existing vacancy within the organization.  How We'll Take Care of You: Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range shown below is annualized, is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits. Canada Annual Pay Range $85,000 — $100,000 CAD   Reasonable Accommodations: We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process for applicants with disabilities. If you need assistance, or an accommodation, please let your recruiter know once you are contacted about a role. Who we are About Stripe Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career. About the team The AI Build team is a new, industry-focused team dedicated to building with the world's leading and fastest-scaling AI companies. We work alongside Stripe's AI Solutions Architecture and GTM teams, and across Stripe's product suite to help customers adopt emerging products, close interoperability and 0→1 solution gaps, and bring field learning directly into Stripe's product roadmap. The team owns strategic proof-of-concept engagements across the pre- and post-sales lifecycle, complementing Stripe's AI account teams and the product depth of Stripe's specialist teams. What you'll do  As a Solutions Engineer on the AI Build team, you'll work directly with frontier AI companies on the payments, billing, and monetization infrastructure underlying their core businesses. You'll own complex proof-of-concept engagements on Stripe's frontier products, from initial scoping through activation and handoff, combining customer discovery, solution design, rapid prototyping, and cross-functional leadership. You won't simply implement a finished product: you'll build with customers, identify where Stripe's products or integrations need to evolve, and help customers feel as though they are inside our product roadmap. Responsibilities   Own strategic POCs end to end: Sell, scope, and lead proof-of-concept engagements from initial customer commitment through activation. Build with customers: Work deeply with users' engineers and technical leaders to understand their workflows, rapidly prototype solutions, and establish credible paths to production. Design across Stripe: Create solutions that span multiple Stripe products and determine whether blockers require configuration, integration work, custom development, or a core product change. Close 0→1 gaps: Navigate incomplete products, evolving requirements, and interoperability gaps while balancing immediate customer outcomes with reusable solutions. Influence the roadmap: Translate customer needs and deployment friction into clear product requirements, and partner with product and engineering teams to shape how Stripe's frontier products are built. Lead cross-functionally: Coordinate AI account teams, AI and specialist Solutions Architects, product and engineering teams, Professional Services, and post-sales technical resources across the engagement lifecycle of new builds and deployments. Create repeatable patterns: Turn successful customer-specific work into reusable prototypes, reference architectures, implementation playbooks, and solution components. Stay close to the AI frontier: Operate at the pace and in the working style of AI-native companies, and remain current on emerging companies, products, business models, and technical developments across the industry. Who you are You are a customer-oriented technical builder who thrives in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. You build trusted relationships with engineers, technical leaders, and senior stakeholders, and you are equally comfortable discovering an unclear problem, designing an architecture, prototyping a solution, and coordinating teams through activation. You use code pragmatically to accelerate your work. You communicate clearly, lead through influence, and look for patterns that can turn one customer engagement into a better product or repeatable approach for many customers. Minimum requirements 7+ years of relevant experience in customer-facing technical delivery, solutions engineering, implementation, technical product management, or a related field Experience owning complex customer engagements from discovery and solution design through implementation or activation, including work across both pre- and post-sales phases Demonstrated success in ambiguous, 0→1 environments where the standard product, integration, or implementation pattern did not yet exist Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, application architecture, and data flows, with the judgment to distinguish implementation gaps from core product gaps Ability to prototype rapidly using modern AI coding harnesses and development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex Working proficiency in one or more relevant languages, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Ruby; depth in a particular language is less important than the ability to learn quickly and build credible prototypes Ability to build trusted relationships with customer engineers, technical leaders, founders, and other senior stakeholders Ability to lead through influence across sales, product, engineering, implementation, and post-sales teams while maintaining clear ownership of the customer outcome Experience operating at startup speed and in Slack-first, rapidly changing environments, along with active engagement in the broader AI industry This role offers a unique opportunity to partner directly with leading AI companies and work on the financial infrastructure that powers their businesses. As an early member of Stripe's AI industry team, you'll help shape how Stripe partners with frontier companies, brings emerging products to market, and translates customer insights into product direction.

About the team The Total Rewards Strategy & Enablement (TR S&E) team translates people strategy into business impact, building the infrastructure, programs, and systems that make Total Rewards work at scale. We're a small, high-leverage team that bridges strategy and execution, partnering with People leadership and cross-functional teams across Finance, Legal, and the business to turn ambiguous problems into durable programs. What you'll do Stripe's Total Rewards programs span compensation, benefits, equity, internal mobility/immigration, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), each with cross-functional dependencies, regulatory stakes, and direct impact on the Stripes they affect. Delivering these programs well takes a Project Manager who develops real subject matter depth, engages with pillar leads as a strategic partner, and brings structure to decisions that aren't always clear-cut. We're hiring a Project Manager to own high-priority Total Rewards projects and programs end to end. You'll work closely with our Benefits, Compensation, Equity, Talent Mobility, and M&A pillars, building expertise in how these programs work and what it takes to land them well. Some programs have established playbooks you'll sharpen; others are less defined and will need you to help shape the approach before you execute it. Across all of them, you'll identify dependencies early, proactively surface and mitigate risks, and keep complex, multi-stakeholder work moving toward clear outcomes. This is a high-leverage individual contributor role for someone who brings both rigor and judgment to every project they own. Responsibilities Own end-to-end project management for high-profile cyclical and transformational Total Rewards projects, from intake and scoping through go-live and handoff to program owners Advise and embed with project teams across the Total Rewards and People portfolio, raising the quality bar and building PM capability across the extended team, not just doing the work yourself Build subject matter expertise across Benefits, Compensation, Equity, Talent Mobility, and M&A — becoming a reliable strategic thought partner to pillar teams on program decisions, not just a tracker of status Build, automate, and continuously improve the infrastructure that makes program management repeatable and scalable: intake frameworks, project plan templates, SOPs, playbooks, and handoff checklists for common program types Leverage AI tools in your daily work and the team's workflows, using them to accelerate synthesis, drafting, stakeholder communications, and documentation, and actively identifying new opportunities to work faster and better  Drive cross-functional alignment across People and key partner functions (Legal, Finance, Corporate Technology, and others), creating shared visibility into priorities, dependencies, and blockers Tackle complex, ambiguous program questions with rigor and independence, owning work from problem definition through final recommendation — including defining the approach, monitoring progress, identifying risks early, and putting mitigation in place before issues land Surface patterns and gaps across the program portfolio, translating observations into structured analysis and recommendations for People leadership Who you are We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. Minimum requirements 7+ years of People project, program, or operations management experience, including at least 3 years driving multi-stakeholder, cross-functional programs end to end, ideally at a scaling or global company A track record of building from scratch: you've created processes, playbooks, or program infrastructure where none existed before, not just improved what was already in place Excellent written communication: you can produce an executive update, a stakeholder decision memo, and a practitioner playbook with equal fluency Strong stakeholder management across senior cross-functional partners: you drive results with a balance of urgency and thoughtfulness, and know when to push, when to align, and when to escalate AI expertise: you default to AI tools for synthesis, drafting, analysis, and communications, and you proactively design workflows that help the team move faster and operate at scale. Analytical fluency: you can work with data to build a credible narrative, identify patterns across a program portfolio, and make recommendations grounded in evidence A users-first mindset: you obsess over the Stripe employee experience and the operator experience, not just the project/program artifacts Preferred qualifications Familiarity with change management frameworks (such as Prosci ADKAR) and judgment about when to apply structured change management vs. lighter-touch approaches Experience building and deploying enablement materials or training resources for cross-functional teams Experience in Total Rewards, People Operations, or an adjacent HR domain Familiarity with PM and collaboration tools (Asana, Jira, or similar) Familiarity with Total Rewards or HR systems (such as Workday, equity administration platforms, or benefits administration tools) PMP, Lean/Six Sigma, or comparable structured-program training
