dentalmental healthconcretecpaaccountinggaap+11

Headquarters: Americas Remote About Customer.io Over 9,000 companies — from scrappy startups to global brands — use our platform to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS every day. Customer.io powers automated communication that people actually want to receive. We help teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data. About the role Hi, my name is Diep N, VP, Finance at Customer.io , and I'm looking for a Global Controller to take the close, the books, and our control environment and make them theirs. We're a global, remote-first, private company built on subscription and usage-based revenue, and as we grow we need a controller who can lead the team already in place and sharpen the fundamentals. You'll lead a team of ~7, growing, across revenue accounting, close, AP/AR, payroll, and treasury, and partner closely with me and, given our CFO's broad remit, with stakeholders across Sales, Legal, IT, HR, and Engineering. What you'll do Lead monthly and quarterly close, GL, AP/AR, payroll, and account reconciliations, delivering accurate, timely US GAAP financials. Close currently runs ~10 business days; get us to 6-8 days within your first 12 months, with fewer post-close adjustments and aged reconciliations. Own revenue accounting and serve as our technical accounting authority on subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606), including the ARR-to-GAAP bridge: reconciling ARR, billings, deferred revenue, contract assets, and usage true-ups to reported revenue, and explaining the delta to leadership and the board in plain terms. Author technical accounting position memos on contract modifications, SSP allocation, variable consideration, and capitalized contract costs, the work that makes "technical accounting authority" real. Own equity compensation accounting (ASC 718): grant accuracy, 409A timing, expense, modifications, and cap-table integrity, in partnership with stock plan administration. Manage and grow a team of ~7, with room to scale, building trust quickly and developing the leads beneath you. Build a control framework suited to a global, remote-first, private company with subscription and usage-based revenue, keeping the books audit-ready. Own our accounting systems roadmap and drive automation across close and reporting. Own select treasury operations, including cash management and banking relationships, and partner on FX exposure monitoring given our multi-currency footprint. Run our external audit relationship and coordinate with external tax partners on compliance, provisions, and filings. Manage the realities of a distributed, remote-first global team: statutory accounting coordination, payroll and contractor controls, entity reporting, and working with Legal, HR, and Tax on international compliance. What we're looking for 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leading a team through managers or leads. A Big 4 (or equivalent top-tier public accounting) foundation. Deep US GAAP mastery, particular strength in subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606). A concrete, personally-owned automation or AI deployment in accounting with a measurable result, eliminating a manual reconciliation, reducing close time, or lowering error rate, that you can speak to in detail. Experience scaling an accounting function that was already running, not building one from zero. A proven track record with external audits and keeping books audit-ready. Strong leadership and communication skills, with credibility partnering with senior, cross-functional stakeholders. Nice to have: internal controls or SOX-readiness experience; remote-first/globally distributed company experience; M&A or deal accounting exposure; CPA license, active or inactive. Compensation & Benefits We believe in transparency. Starting salary for this role ranges from $250k to $280k USD (or equivalent in local currency), structured by geographic zone and depending on experience. In addition to base salary, this role includes an equity grant in the form of stock options, so you share in the success you help build. Our inclusive benefits package supports your well-being and growth, including 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and supplemental insurance premiums for you and your family. We also offer 16 weeks paid parental leave, unlimited PTO, stipends for remote work and wellness, a professional development budget, and more. See full benefits here → Our Process No gotchas, no trick questions - just a clear, human process designed to help both of us make an informed decision. 30-minute recruiter screen 45-minute hiring manager screen Two 30-minute cross-functional chats: one with a Legal partner, one with a People partner 60-minute case review call 30-minute bar raiser call with our CFO All final candidates will be asked to complete a background check and employment verifications as part of our pre-employment process. Customer.io recognizes the stifling impact of systemic injustice on diverse communities. We commit to using our influence to increase inclusion and equity within the tech industry. We strive to build an inclusive team culture, implement bias-free hiring practices, and develop community partnerships to expand our global impact. Zoom is the only video conference platform that we use, virtual interviews will be conducted using the video capability (i.e., not via the chat), and offers will be extended in writing on official Customer.io letterhead. Please be vigilant in all of your job search activity, and if you have any questions please contact jobs@customer.io . Join us! Software Engineer - BYG
iwocaLondon, Germany8 days ago
Full TimeOn-siteMid£70,000 - £70,000 / Year
pythontypescriptreactdjangodata sciencemental health+6

Software Engineer - Customer Operations Platform Hybrid in London, UK We're looking for a software engineer iwoca's operational tools and processes are a competitive advantage, allowing us to give great customer service, manage risk, and get money into our customers' hands as quickly as possible. You'll join our growing Customer Operations Platform team to help improve the systems that power these processes, building tailored flows for our Operations teams, automating processes using AI, using ML models to make smarter decisions, and improving the reliability of our communication services. You'll work closely with our Operations teams, getting user feedback and input on requirements from users working in the same building, and seeing the impact of your changes on the people you work with. The company Small businesses move fast. Opportunities often don't wait, and cash flow pressures can appear overnight. To keep going, and growing, SMEs need finance that's as flexible and responsive as they are. That's why we built iwoca. Our smart technology, data science and five-star customer service ensures business owners can act with the speed, confidence and control they need, exactly when it's needed. We've already cleared the way for 100,000 businesses with more than £4 billion in funding. Our passionate team is driven to help even more SMEs succeed, through access to better finance and other services that make running a business easier. Our ultimate mission is to support one million SMEs in their defining moments, creating lasting impact for the communities and economies they drive. The role As an engineer you'd take whole projects end to end, work out what' s actually needed, design it, build it and look after it in production. Responsibility and Autonomy: Take on complex projects that span many systems and many stakeholders — e.g. CRM, telephony, contact, and task management Build a strong understanding of the business context: how our ops teams actually work, how the processes you're automating are supposed to run, and what the people relying on your systems need from them. Do the detailed technical scoping and prototyping that tells us whether an idea is feasible before it reaches the roadmap. Delivery and Collaboration Take on complex coding and architecture problems with a high level of ambiguity and technical complexity. Write fluent technical documents and developer tickets distilling product requirements into clear and actionable technical work. Build relationships with key stakeholders including Operations Strategy, Credit Analysts, Account Managers, and Collections teams. Learning and Growth: Embody our growth mindset mentality by sharing new technologies and best practices within the team as well as more broadly across the company. The projects Here are some of the most recent problems we are solving: iwocaChat. Operations staff spend a large share of their day assembling context from multiple systems before they can help a customer. iwocaChat uses Claude to answer those questions directly, so staff spend their time on the customer rather than the lookup. Migrating the monolith. We are incrementally moving business logic out of our Django monolith into smaller, independently deployable services. Because it cuts across every domain, you'd be shaping service boundaries and ownership models that stick around long after the monolith is gone. Inbox messaging reworking. We are replacing our third party email inbox application with an inhouse solution, utilising AI to enable operations staff to automate the actions of our most frequent customer service enquiries. The requirements Essential: Experience developing and owning shared back end services that other engineering teams contribute to and depend on - being the trusted reviewer for their contributions and shaping how they build on top of your work. Familiarity with front-end technologies (React, TypeScript) and browser debugging. Experience building and shaping distributed systems in complex business domains. Ability to translate complex operational needs into technical architecture. Strong capability using AI tools to automate routine tasks and research, enabling greater focus on complex system architecture and critical technical decision-making. Bonus: Commercial experience with Python frameworks like Django. Experience with complex data architectures, including event-sourced data models. The salary We expect to pay from £70,000 - £90,000 for this role. But, we're open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews. The culture At iwoca, the best idea wins. We model our culture on independent thinking, challenging untested logic, and evidence-based decisions. We prioritise learning and growth, and give people the autonomy to develop in the direction that makes them most effective. We're a tech company and believe in the power of AI to help us work faster and better. We provide the infrastructure where every iwocan always has access to the best models and where those models have access to all of our data. We will help our people to learn how to use and grow with the new tools available to them. The offices We put a lot of effort into making iwoca a brilliant place to work: Offices in London, Leeds, Frankfurt, and Berlin with plenty of drinks and snacks. Events and clubs, like bingo, comedy nights, yoga classes, football, etc. The benefits Flexible working. Medical insurance from Vitality, including discounted gym membership. A private GP service (separate from Vitality) for you, your partner, and your dependents. 25 days' holiday, an extra day off for your birthday, the option to buy or sell an additional five days of annual leave, and unlimited unpaid leave. A one-month, fully paid sabbatical after four years. Instant access to external counselling and therapy sessions for team members that need emotional or mental health support. 3% pension contributions on total earnings. It brings together engineers, data scientists, and product and strategy people. It partners closely with credit risk on the trade-offs behind every lending decision. Knowledge sharing is central to how the team works, supported by regular forums to share findings, and dedicated research and development time. You'll lead two engineers and report to the head of engineering for iwoca's customer journey, from first application to repeat lending. The role As the Tech Lead, you'll spend most of your time building. The team is moving its offer logic out of a legacy monolith into multiple services.. The next phase is yours to lead. Autonomy and ownership. You'll shape what the team builds, decide how to build it, and own what goes live. You'll set its engineering roadmap, including what to pull out of the monolith, what to rewrite, and in what order. Technical depth. You'll design the services that turn the team's models and rules into a lending decision for each application. You'll keep them reliable in production and easy to change as the models evolve. Experimentation and learning. You'll build the systems that let data scientists test new models on live applications. Some experiments run for years, until each loan reaches the end of its term. You'll see the long-term results of the team's lending decisions. Leadership and growth. You'll line-manage and coach the team's engineers, setting context and helping them own projects end to end. As the team grows, you'll decide the skills and make-up it needs, and hire the engineers to match. The requirements Essential: Technical leadership . You've led a team of engineers for at least two years, including line management, while still remaining hands on. Backend engineering. You have deep expertise in at least one object-oriented language. You've designed, built, and run customer-facing backend systems in production. Commercial or product thinking. You take a business goal, get to the root of what's needed and why, and turn it into a technical plan. You can explain a trade-off in terms of what it means for customers and the business. AI leverage. You've built agentic workflows, or used AI to deliver engineering work you couldn't have done alone. You help your team do the same. You judge where it's useful. You check its output before it reaches production. Communication. You write and speak clearly, directly, and concisely. You adapt technical detail to your audience. Bonus: Lending or payments experience. You've worked in lending, payments, or another domain where engineering decisions carry financial risk. Experimentation. You've built systems that run controlled experiments, especially long-running ones. Legacy migration. You've moved business-critical logic out of a complex legacy monolith and kept everything that depends on it working. Working with data scientists. You've worked with data scientists from prototype to production, and know their work well enough to challenge it. Python stack. You've worked with Python, Django, and PostgreSQL. Frontend. You've built frontend features as well as backend services. The salary We expect to pay from £90,000 to £120,000 for this role.
