About CuspAI CuspAI is the frontier AI company on a mission to solve the breakthrough materials needed to power human progress. While nature took billions of years to perfect molecules, we are harnessing AI to unlock trillion-dollar materials breakthroughs in months, not millennia. Our founding team is the most cited in the world, comprised of world-class researchers in AI, chemistry and engineering. We are working on some of the hardest and most important challenges including energy, clean water, the future of compute, and carbon capture, and this is just the start of what our 'search engine' for next-generation materials will unlock. We invite you to be part of a diverse, innovative team at the intersection of AI and materials science, working to create impactful partnerships that drive innovation, scalability, and industry collaboration. This work matters. Your work matters. We're on the cusp of the on-demand materials era. Join us. The Role Due to our rapid growth and the sensitivity of our proprietary materials discovery platform, we are seeking a Security Engineer to ensure our innovation happens at speed without compromising the safety of our IP or our users. Your Impact In this role you will be building the automated security pipelines and AI-specific guardrails that protect our frontier models and research data, which is critical for maintaining the integrity of our materials discovery engine and the trust of our global partners. As an early security hire, you won't be a manual blocker; instead, you will architect a "shift-left" culture where security is a fundamental product feature. Your work ensures that as we scale our search for next-generation materials, our underlying infrastructure and world-class IP remain safely locked down. What You Will Do AI-Specific Security & IP Protection Secure the end-to-end ML lifecycle, implementing defenses against data poisoning and protecting our proprietary model weights from theft. Design and deploy prompt injection defenses and runtime firewalls to prevent unauthorized manipulation of our LLM interfaces. Implement AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM) to monitor and catalog self-hosted models, internal training datasets, and proprietary endpoints. Cloud Security, CI/CD & Core DevSecOps Weave automated security "guardrails" directly into our CI/CD workflows, including secret scanning, API exposure checks, and software composition analysis (SCA). Codify security policies using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ensuring all cloud resources are automatically compliant with global standards (e.g. GDPR, SOC2). Manage secrets and vulnerability patching for containerized environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) to ensure our research environment is resilient. Design strict, least-privilege Identity and Access Management (IAM) controls to isolate sensitive training data and research workloads. Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Security Culture Lead incident response efforts by monitoring production logs for anomalies and collaborating with AI Researchers to deploy rapid fixes. Empower the engineering team to own security by providing tools for local IDE security scanning and pre-commit hooks. Act as a security educator, cultivating a culture of shared responsibility across the AI, chemistry, and engineering teams. Partner with researchers, chemists, and engineers to translate security requirements into practical workflows that support rather than slow down scientific work. Must Have Skills and Qualifications: You are motivated by the mission of using AI for planetary-scale impact and understand the high stakes of securing "deep tech" intellectual property. 3+ years of experience in a DevSecOps, Cloud Security, or Site Reliability Engineering role, preferably within a fast-paced startup or AI-centric company. Proven experience building and securing CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins). Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi) and securing cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Deep understanding of container security and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Practical knowledge of security frameworks and how to implement them without slowing down development cycles. Bonus Points (But Not Critical): Direct experience with AI-specific security tools or defending against LLM-specific vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10 for LLMs). Experience with AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM) tools. Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security, CSEP, or OSCP. A background or personal interest in materials science, chemistry, or the intersection of AI and physical sciences. Additional Considerations This role could be based in our Cambridge, London, Amsterdam or Berlin offices, with the expectation of being in the office three days per week. Additionally, there may be regular travel required to other locations for collaboration and project work. As part of your onboarding, you will be expected to spend at least a few weeks in our Cambridge/London office learning about our platform and getting to know us in person. Additionally, there may be regular travel required to Europe and other regional and global locations for collaboration and project work. What We Offer A competitive salary: We value and reward impact and growth Equity in CuspAI: You have a stake in the success of the company Time off to stay fresh: 28 days holiday (DE, NL, UK) or 21 days holiday (JP, SG, US), in addition to local public holidays 'Gold Standard' parental leave: 26 weeks (primary caregiver) and 12 weeks (secondary caregiver) at full pay - we look after you and your family while we work on the most important materials discovery problems together Professional development budget: We invest in your career development so you can stay up to date with the latest industry knowledge or add to your skills to increase impact and growth Solve meaningful problems: See how your work has a direct impact on advancing materials science and solving sustainability and climate-related problems through the creation and application of bleeding-edge SOTA technology and revolutionary techniques True interdisciplinary teamwork: Be part of a deeply collaborative environment bridging AI research, computational chemistry, and experimental science - work with world-class researchers and engineers who enjoy sharing knowledge and supporting each other Join us in shaping the future of materials with AI. Sunday Natural is one of Germany's fastest-growing natural health brands, and our eCommerce platform is growing with it – today it serves 7 million monthly active users , runs on €400k of AWS per year , and supports a development organization of 30+ engineers . Every one of those numbers has moved sharply upward in the last few years, and all of them will keep moving. As the platform grows, taking the technical direction of that group is a natural next step, and one we would actively support. You own our AWS spend – €400k a year that currently has no dedicated owner, including where it goes and how we bring it down. You are the escalation point. When production is at risk, you decide. Sunday Natural emerged from a long-standing passion and research in the fields of health, healing, and personal growth. The lack of natural, high-quality products on the market was the original motivation for founding Sunday Natural in 2013. We aim to produce the products we ourselves would love to buy – as natural as possible, absolutely pure, free from any additives, and of the highest quality. In a strategic partnership with CVC, Sunday Natural is now one of Germany's most renowned quality manufacturers, with its own research and development department in Berlin. For the continuous improvement of our products, we collaborate with selected research institutes, scientists, therapists, farmers, and professional associations. ControlUp is a leader in Digital Employee Experience (DEX), evolving IT operations with agentic AI to deliver Autonomous Endpoint Management (AEM) and a digital workspace that runs itself. Our platform transforms millions of real-time signals into intelligent action, bridging the gap between deep visibility and automated remediation. We turn "IT headaches" and employee frustration into self-healing operations, allowing organizations to move beyond reactive troubleshooting toward a future where technology works seamlessly in the background. We're here to ensure the workday runs without disruptions. No tool sprawl, no wasted time, and no friction. Just technology that works for people, not against them, so they can stay focused on what they do best. One platform. One powerful shift in how work flows. About the Role: We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who thinks AI-first, builds with modern tooling, and brings strong React/TypeScript front-end instincts alongside solid back-end capability. Back-end proficiency — Node.js or similar; REST/GraphQL API design. Demonstrable experience using AI tools in your day-to-day development workflow. Solid CS fundamentals: data structures, design patterns, system design. Proven ability to perform and deliver in a fast-paced, high-growth environment — comfortable managing shifting priorities, tight timelines, and evolving requirements without compromising on quality. Nice to Have: Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) or building AI-powered features. Familiarity with Micro Frontend architecture and module federation. Exposure to Agile/Scrum and Azure DevOps. Experience with Jest or similar testing frameworks. Why You'll Love It Here: Global, Not Isolated: You'll work with a diverse team spanning the US, EMEA, and Israel. We're known for our vibrant social culture, and once a year, the entire global company comes together for a major offsite to reconnect in person. Meaningful Impact: Make a real impact from day one, working with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced, global environment. Collaborative & Growth-Driven: Join a collaborative, empowering culture where learning and professional growth are encouraged. True Flexibility: We offer a hybrid model. We care about the output of your expertise, not the hours you spend in a specific chair. Ready to join? Apply now and help us shape the future of IT and employee experience. About Shiftbase At Shiftbase, we build workforce software that helps people get work done. Thousands of teams across Europe rely on our platform every day to plan work, track time, and manage leave, freeing them from unnecessary admin so they can focus on what matters and what sparked their business. As we continue to grow in customers, usage and product ambition, the demands on our platform grow with us. Our backend needs to scale in quality, reliability and speed of change . That's why we're investing heavily in modernising our platform, building a foundation that allows us to move faster, deliver better experiences, and support the next phase of Shiftbase's growth. About the role: As a Senior Backend Engineer, you are a key driver of both product delivery and platform modernisation. You work on the core of our backend, improving reliability, performance and scalability, with the explicit goal of turning Shiftbase from a platform people enjoy into a platform they love. You help evolve a mature monolithic codebase into a more modular, testable and future-proof architecture. By modernising the foundation of the product, you directly enable better user experiences, faster iteration and higher overall product quality. What you'll do Drive technical excellence Design and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions for complex features and system components Make informed architectural decisions that balance pragmatism with long-term vision Set the bar for technical craft through your contributions and code reviews Own complex technical initiatives from design through production, breaking them into testable increments Build for reliability and scale Define comprehensive testing strategies for complex features, championing quality within the team Debug and resolve complex issues across multiple components, improving system observability Apply security best practices throughout the development lifecycle Contribute to monitoring, alerting and system health improvements Enable team growth Mentor engineers with targeted technical guidance and feedback Support onboarding and enable a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment Help shape delivery practices and improve team velocity through data-informed decisions What we're looking for Core technical expertise You have deep backend engineering experience with complex, high-scale systems. We don't expect expertise in everything listed below. We value engineers who've built depth and breadth through genuine curiosity and a drive to solve real problems. These are examples of competencies that matter in this role: Modern PHP & architectural patterns : Experience with hexagonal architecture, domain-driven design, or similar patterns that emphasize domain modeling over framework magic. You can build maintainable systems without relying on framework shortcuts. SQL & database design : Comfort writing raw SQL (not just ORM abstractions) and working with complex relational schemas particularly around time-sensitive data like scheduling, timesheets and payroll where integrity and performance are critical. Legacy modernisation experience : You've gradually evolved mature systems rather than pursuing big-bang rewrites. You know when to modernize strategically vs. leaving working code untouched, and understand the balance between progress and stability when serving thousands of customers. Monolith to services : Experience breaking down monoliths with good judgment about when distribution solves real problems (deployment bottlenecks, team autonomy) vs. when it adds unnecessary complexity. Testing in legacy contexts : Practical experience with unit and integration testing, particularly incrementally improving coverage in existing systems. This might be your dream job if… ✅ You enjoy modernising a mature platform and turning legacy code into something you're proud of ✅ You get energy from breaking down a monolith and shaping a more modular, service-oriented architecture ✅ You care about product quality , not just "shipping code". ✅ You like improving reliability, performance and developer experience as much as adding new features ✅ You enjoy working closely with product and frontend to make better technical and product decisions This probably isn't your dream job if… ⛔️ You only want to work on greenfield projects and avoid legacy systems altogether ⛔️ You're uncomfortable refactoring existing code or making incremental improvements ⛔️ You prefer being handed fully-defined solutions rather than helping shape them ⛔️ You're looking for a role where architecture decisions are already "done" ⛔️ You'd rather optimise locally than care about the end-to-end product experience Note: Candidates outside the Netherlands will not be considered Find Jobs in Netherlands on Arbeitnow

Our mission is to make listening feel effortless, personal, and joyful for billions of users around the world.
