Quality Assurance Automation Engineer
InvisALERT SolutionsGreater Philadelphia, United States12 days ago
Full TimeOn-siteJunior
pythonjavascriptswiftdjangocypressplaywright+17

About InvisALERT Solutions InvisALERT Solutions builds technology that keeps patients safe. Hospitals and behavioral health facilities use our ObservSmart platform to track patients and staff in real time and to monitor patients at risk of harm, using BLE beacons and locators, ceiling-mounted radar and FLIR thermal sensors, and iOS and web applications. We are a healthcare technology startup where a small team's work reaches the bedside directly: the systems you test help clinical staff protect vulnerable patients every day. This is a hybrid position based out of our West Chester, PA or Philadelphia, PA office. Position Overview As a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer at InvisALERT Solutions, you will test and help automate our ObservSmart and location-based products, a connected system of iOS apps, web applications, APIs, BLE beacons and locators, and ceiling-mounted mmWave radar and FLIR thermal sensors used in clinical settings. This is a mid-level role that blends hands-on functional and regression testing with writing code: you will script tests, build out automated coverage, and help grow our automation practice over time. You will work closely with the QA Manager, fellow QA team members, developers and product owners to plan testing, share findings, and keep quality high from requirements through release. This role is ideal for a tester who enjoys coding, likes figuring out how hardware and software work together, and wants ownership of quality across an entire product. Key Responsibilities End-to-end product testing: Plan and run functional, integration and regression testing across the iOS app, web application, APIs, and connected hardware and sensors. Verify that data flows correctly from device to backend to user interface. Hardware and sensor testing: Test BLE beacons and locators, mmWave radar, and FLIR thermal sensors in real-world conditions, including Bluetooth connectivity, signal accuracy, battery and power states, firmware updates, and failure and recovery scenarios. API testing: Validate REST APIs for correctness, error handling, data integrity and performance, using tools such as Postman and scripted API tests. Test automation: Write and maintain automated tests in Python or a similar language. Partner with our automation engineer, who maintains the existing framework for our core product, to help design and build automation for ObservSmart and our location system. Together you will extend or adapt that framework to cover regression, API, and UI tests for web and iOS. CI/CD: Integrate automated tests into our build and deployment pipelines so tests run on every build and help keep test results visible to the team. Scripting and tooling: Create scripts that speed up testing, such as test data setup, environment checks, log collection and device simulation. Test case management: Write, review and maintain test cases, both happy path and negative, in Azure DevOps Test Plans. Keep the regression suite current as features change. Defect management: Log clear, reproducible defects in Linear with environment, build version, reproduction steps and supporting evidence, and follow them through to verification. Release validation: Run release and post-deployment validation, help triage incoming issues, and keep test status communicated to the team. Collaboration: Work closely with the QA Manager, other QA team members, developers, product managers and clinical-facing teams to understand requirements, identify gaps early, and contribute to the overall product vision. Subject matter expertise: Become an expert in how our products work so you can identify gaps in requirements and answer questions about the system. Continuous learning: Stay current with testing, automation and IoT trends, and look for ways to improve our QA process. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience. 3 to 5 years of software QA or testing experience, including testing of web and mobile applications. Working coding or scripting skills in at least one language, such as Python, JavaScript or Swift, and hands-on experience writing automated tests. Experience testing REST APIs with tools such as Postman or scripted test frameworks. Solid understanding of QA methods: test planning, test case design, regression testing, and the defect life cycle. Experience with a defect tracking tool such as Linear or Jira and a test management tool such as Azure DevOps Test Plans or TestRail. Comfortable working with Git and reading code to understand how features work. Ability to work independently and manage your own priorities, while collaborating closely with the QA team. Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience testing IoT, hardware, wearable or sensor-based products, including Bluetooth or wireless connectivity. Experience with UI automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, XCUITest or Appium. Experience with test frameworks such as pytest, and with Python Django backends. Experience adding automated tests to CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions or Azure Pipelines. Familiarity with AWS and cloud-based applications. Experience in healthcare technology or another regulated environment, including awareness of HIPAA and patient data privacy. Familiarity with healthcare integrations such as HL7 or EHR systems. Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment. Job Details Job type: Full-time Work arrangement: Hybrid: 3 days remote and 2 days in the office each week. Additional in-office days may be required for testing, such as hands-on hardware and sensor work. Office location: West Chester, PA 19380 or Philadelphia, PA Commute: Must reliably commute to the office or plan to relocate before starting. No relocation assistance. Interview: In-person interview required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Work authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
