New Challenge About Us Project Q GmbH ("Q") is a Germany-based DefenseTech company with offices in Berlin and Munich. We network market-available sensors, effectors, or situational awareness systems into a tactical IoT backbone that reliably provides armed forces and security agencies with cross-domain information superiority — automated, scalable, and cost-efficient. Our solutions integrate seamlessly into existing defense and maritime infrastructures, delivering fast data fusion and AI-enhanced analytics for robust situational awareness in dynamic environments. We build platform-agnostic systems that enable real interoperability across domains. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll directly impact the technical direction of our orchestration products – Hydris – the coordination engine for sensors and mission systems, and the interoperability API that underpins it. You'll work at the layer where heterogeneous real-world systems like radars, AIS receivers, LoRa mesh radios, satellite feeds, and C2 platforms become a single coherent picture. The problems lie in distributed systems, protocols, and data modeling areas. They play out in environments that are bandwidth-constrained, intermittently connected, and operationally unforgiving. The role is deeply hands-on, but it expects you to shape what we build and how we build it, not just deliver what's specified. What you'll do Core engine development Design and build the systems that power Hydris. Go is your primary language. You should be comfortable reading Rust and TypeScript across the codebase, even if you're not writing in them day-to-day. Own the architecture of a system that must run reliably on edge hardware, in disconnected mesh networks, and at scale — often all of that simultaneously. Protocol and integration architecture Evolve the schema that defines how every sensor, asset, and mission system talks to Hydris. Make API design decisions that hold up across our client libraries without creating a maintenance burden. Continue refining the integration framework that lets Hydris connect to new sensor types, data sources, and command systems. Set the patterns for how built-in integrations (ADS-B, AIS, ASTERIX, Meshtastic, SpaceTrack, TAK, federation) are structured, tested, and maintained. Make it straightforward for external developers and system vendors to build their own plugins/integrations to Hydris. Distributed systems Architect the peer-to-peer mesh and federation layer that keeps Hydris operational in disconnected, denied, intermittent, and limited-bandwidth environments. Solve the hard coordination problems: conflict resolution across federated nodes, eventual consistency of entity state, and track correlation across unreliable links. Ensure the system degrades gracefully rather than failing completely when connectivity is lost or constrained. Technical leadership Set technical standards for the codebase: how we test distributed behavior, how we handle protocol versioning, how we think about backward compatibility in an API-first product. Review code with a focus on long-term maintainability and operational correctness, not just feature completion. Make build-versus-integrate decisions and help the team clearly understand the trade-offs. You should apply if you Have built and shipped distributed systems that run in production, ideally in environments where reliability matters more than convenience. Are comfortable working across the stack, from Protobuf schema design and systems-level Go, to the TypeScript that puts a map in front of a user. Have well-formed views about API design and protocol evolution, informed by experience maintaining APIs that other people depend on. Can operate effectively with a high degree of autonomy but are adept at collaboration with colleagues toward high-quality technical decisions, at scale. Are interested in contributing to European military, maritime, and critical infrastructure defence systems. Write clearly and communicate architectural decisions in a way that survives beyond the conversation where they were made. Working language is English. German is not required. You'd be a great fit with Experience with geospatial systems, sensor fusion, or track management. Familiarity with defense or ISR data standards like CoT/TAK, ASTERIX, SAPIENT, MIL-STD-2525. Background in networking, mesh architectures, or systems designed for contested or degraded communication environments. Experience working on developer-facing open-source infrastructure where adoption depends on the quality of the API and documentation. We Offer Remote work anywhere in Germany, or hybrid/on-site in Berlin or Munich if you're already based there and prefer an office. High degree of autonomy and ownership, a flat structure, and real input into technical direction. Annual €1500 Learning & development budget (available after probation). Bike Leasing and Urban Sports Club membership. 30 days of paid time off. Note: We're unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role – candidates must already be eligible to work in Germany. Raisin is the world's leading platform for savings and investment products. Founded in 2012, the FinTech connects consumers with banks in the EU, the UK and the US. This gives consumers better interest rates and banks a diversified form of refinancing . Our vision is to offer savings and investments without barriers and thus open up the global 160 trillion euro market. Raisin currently employs more than 800 people from over 75 countries worldwide. Today, the platform holds over 80 billion euros in assets from more than one million investors which have accrued over 5 billion euros in returns. Team AI Enablement builds Raisin's internal AI platform. We make it easy and safe for every team, from engineering and product to business operations, to use AI in their daily work and in the products they build. We provide the shared foundation for that: governed access to AI models and tools, the controls that keep data secure and usage auditable, and the visibility teams need to run AI reliably and cost-effectively. We also shape how Raisin builds software with AI, from AI-assisted coding to agentic workflows that support teams across the development lifecycle. Because Raisin operates in regulated financial services, security and compliance are core to how we design the platform. You will join early and help shape how AI is used across Raisin. Your Responsibilities As an AI Platform Engineer, you build and run the platform that lets teams use AI safely, and you help engineering teams bring AI into how they build software. You own your work from the first design to production and work directly with the people who use it. You won't do all of the following at once: you will go deep in a few areas and contribute to the rest. Build and run the platform Design, build, and operate shared services that give teams governed access to AI models and tools, including authentication, routing across providers, usage limits, guardrails, and audit logging. Build safe ways for AI agents to connect to internal systems and data, with clear identity, permissions, and review. Run what you build in production: infrastructure as code, observability for reliability, usage, and cost, and incident response. Bring AI into how we build software Design and build agentic workflows that support engineers across the development lifecycle, from planning and implementation to code review, testing, and release. Create reusable building blocks for AI tools, such as agent instructions, skills, and integrations with engineering systems, that teams can adopt and extend. Help engineering teams adopt AI-assisted development in a way that improves quality as well as speed, and measure the effect on delivery. Treat the platform as a product for internal customers Work with engineers, product managers, and business teams to understand their needs and turn them into platform capabilities. Make the platform and its tools easy to adopt through self-service, sensible defaults, and clear documentation. Measure adoption, reliability, cost, and impact, and use that data to decide what to build next. Own technical decisions Lead the design of new capabilities from first idea to production, including build-versus-buy choices, and document decisions so others can follow the reasoning. Work with security, legal, and compliance colleagues to turn their requirements into controls the platform enforces automatically. Make principled model choices based on cost, latency, and quality. Raise the bar for the engineers around you through design reviews, pairing, and sharing what you learn. Your Profile What you bring 5+ years as a software engineer in backend, platform, or infrastructure roles, including production systems that other teams depend on. Experience building for internal customers: a platform, developer tooling, or shared services used by other engineers. Strong skills in at least one programming language (Python preferred; TypeScript and JVM languages also relevant). Solid cloud and delivery fundamentals: AWS or another major cloud, containers, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD. Practical experience with LLM APIs or AI tooling beyond experiments, and you use AI coding assistants in your daily work. You are comfortable with evolving scope, make pragmatic trade-offs, and explain them clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues. Nice to have Experience with LLM gateways, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), managed model services, or agent runtimes. You have rolled out AI-assisted development workflows for other engineers, such as agent instructions, reusable skills, or automated code review. Identity and access: OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, SSO, role-based access control, or delegated access. API gateways, rate limiting, multi-tenant isolation, or observability (OpenTelemetry or similar). A feel for the cost, latency, and quality trade-offs of different models. You don't need to tick every box. If you have strong platform or developer-tooling experience and real curiosity about AI, we would like to hear from you. Join our mission, join our team – and grow with us! At Raisin, we care about each other and it is one of our top priorities to foster an open and caring environment in which everyone feels welcome and comfortable. Our culture is strongly driven by our ambitious team, which connects more than 75 different nationalities. As part of our team, you will benefit from: Employee Development Budget of €2,000 and four full training days per year. Flexible working hours, home office and 30 vacation days. A company pension scheme (Betriebliche Altersvorsorge), which we support with 20%. Job Description In short : We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our foundation team with a focus on mobile. You don't need to have years of experience in platform engineering But, you do need to have shipped real production software, to care about how things are built, and to already be working with agentic coding tools every day. We're building the #1 AI learning companion for 1 billion students. A future where every student on the planet can access, enjoy & benefit from the highest quality education. Since founding Knowunity straight out of high school in 2020, we've been committed to revolutionising how students learn. Millions of students already use our AI learning companion weekly. We just raised €27m - Europe's largest education round in the past three years. The AI learning market is at an inflection point, finally enabling true personalisation at scale, and we're determined to build the first AI learning unicorn in this space. You will join an elite team of +60 hands-on builders serving 1 billion students worldwide. If we execute on our product vision, you will have built something generational that transforms education globally. This is your chance to build a generational company that shapes how an entire generation learns. What makes this different You build at the frontier of AI engineering. We're building the foundation for agents to build fast and with high quality on our code base. This includes custom MCP servers, our background agent platform, and end-to-end agentic loops. This is an open engineering problem, not a solved one, and you'll be shaping our answer to it. Your work multiplies across 25+ engineers. A design system component you build gets used in a hundred screens. A CI pipeline you cut from 15 minutes to 2 gives the whole org back a day a week. Foundation is the highest-leverage place in our engineering org, and the leverage is measurable. Millions of students use what you ship. Foundation isn't a team that only builds for other engineers. You'll also build features that land in front of millions of users. Real ownership, early. We're a small team with a large surface. You'll own meaningful pieces of the app and the toolchain from your first months. Craft is taken seriously. We care how the app feels: how a sheet animates, how a list scrolls under load, how a component behaves at the edges. If you've ever been quietly annoyed by four pixels, you'll fit in here. Find out more here!: This AI studying app with 25M+ downloads is built with Flutter What you'll work on Mobile foundation. The core of our Flutter app: shared components, the design system, state management, performance, and the tooling around it. You'll extend it, keep it healthy, and make it obvious for product teams to use correctly. Agentic and AI infrastructure. MCP servers, our background agent platform, evals and feedback loops, and the integration of agentic tooling into our day-to-day workflow. A research background isn't required; a serious interest in agents as an engineering discipline is. Developer experience. CI/CD, release tooling, and the feedback loop between writing code and seeing it live. Much of this work starts by noticing the same friction three times and deciding to remove it. Product features. Shipping user-facing work alongside platform work, both to move the product and to stay honest about what it's actually like to build on our foundation. Reliability and maintenance. Keeping what exists dependable, so 25+ engineers can build on it without thinking about it. You will grow at Knowunity by Learning architecture by doing it. You'll make real design decisions on the app's core, with review and mentorship from engineers who have architected mobile apps at scale. You'll see those decisions tested by 25 engineers and millions of users within weeks. Becoming genuinely strong at agentic engineering. Almost nobody is an expert here yet. You'll be building the practice for a whole engineering org while the field is still being written. Widening past mobile. Foundation's scope covers Go services, infrastructure, and delivery. You'll be expected to have opinions beyond the app, and you'll have the room to develop them. Working close to the whole org. Platform work means talking to every team. You'll get an unusually complete picture of how a product organisation actually functions, faster than you would inside a single product team. Operating at real scale. Millions of users, 26 countries, and a codebase where "it works on my machine" isn't the finish line. What we're looking for Must haves A few years of production experience building mobile (we use Flutter and Dart) or web applications. Daily use of agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) and opinions on where they work well, where they don't, and how to work around it. An eye for design. You notice when spacing is inconsistent, when an animation feels wrong, when a component is close but not right. Clear communication in English and a genuine preference for improving systems that slow other people down, whether or not your name ends up on a shipped feature.
