We're not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo ❤️ 📍London or Remote (UK) | 💰£68,000 - £88,000 + Benefits | 12 month fixed term contract Every word we write matters. From what's in the app, to job ads (like this one), to error messages, to emails, to internal policies, to… you get the idea. The Writing team isn't responsible for writing every word though – we're here to level up Monzo's writing overall. We have a well-established tone of voice, and people here really care about making sure all our writing is consistently good and works hard for customers. It'll be your job to keep that quality up through the writing you do. But you'll also be a champion for great writing by proving the difference it makes, and helping other people to improve their own writing skills. Our never-ending reason to exist is to improve the overall quality of writing at Monzo. That means a culture where care for language is the norm. Everyone, in every role, should understand how important it is to write in a clear, empathetic way, and they should all have the skills to do it. The outcome of that will be world-leading writing for customers. They'll trust us because our writing is clear, effective and works hard for them. You'll get together with the other writers pretty regularly to review and showcase work, collect feedback and insights from one another and generally just raise the bar for words at Monzo. And as we hinted at already, you'll live and breathe our tone of voice, which is propped up by 3 guiding principles: straightforward kindness, everyday magic and warm wit. You'll be covering our Borrowing Writer while they're on caregiver leave This is a 12-month fixed term contract covering for our Writer who's based in the Borrowing collective. That means you'll be focused on supporting teams working on things like loans, credit cards, overdrafts and other borrowing and credit related projects. You'll work closely with cross-functional squads of engineers, designers, marketers, researchers and so on to make it an amazing experience for existing customers, and bring new people on board. A typical day could see you collaborating with a Product Designer on some in-app screens collaborating with a Product Marketer on positioning and building messaging toolkits for use across web, growth marketing or CRM sitting in on user research sessions led by the Research team writing error messages with input from engineers editing legal wording alongside our in-house lawyers Your home will be in Writing Alongside the work you do in Borrowing, you'll contribute to the Writing discipline. We're always working on new resources, training and processes to make writing easier for everyone at Monzo. Writing is part of the wider Marketing team but this role isn't only about marketing. In fact, that's a small part of the job. Your remit will be to improve the quality of the writing that touches your part of the business, inside Monzo and out. This is for you if you understand borrowing and credit products well you're a dab hand at 'content design', 'UX writing', 'product writing' you're allergic to useless jargon and over-complicated language you know how to use data and research to guide your approach you're okay bouncing between tasks on a daily basis you're comfortable questioning a brief and helping people understand why your approach is the right one you've done some training or coaching to help other people improve their writing, but this one's not essential. This isn't for you if it's your first writing job – sorry, but we need someone to hit the ground running you're a journalist or ad writer you're only really excited by brand and marketing stuff – that isn't the focus of this role you prefer to spend most of your time working solo – writing here is a team sport and you'll need to collaborate with everyone across the company you like lots of top-down direction – you'll be expected to decide which challenges you tackle with your team, and how to tackle them. You'll get the chance to shape the role around what's good for you, and us very flexible working – we care about what you do, not the minutes you work or where you do it (we love to see our teammates in the office but you don't have to come in if you don't want to) a whole load of benefits, including a personal training budget, health insurance, generous caregiving leave and more you can read about here: https://monzo.com/careers/ Please make sure you give us both a CV and a cover letter. This is a writing job after all; you should want to show us what you can do. A cover letter also helps us understand why you want the job vs a CV which often just tells us why you might be able to do the job. The Interview Process Our interview process involves 3 main stages (not including a recruiter call). Initial call with the Hiring Manager (30mins) Take home task (to be submitted within 7 days) A pair of interviews via Google Meet (each interview lasting up to 60 minutes) This process should take around 3-4 weeks - your schedule is really important to us, so we promise to be as flexible as possible! Kaluza is the Energy Intelligence Platform, turning energy complexity into seamless coordination. We help energy companies overcome today's challenges while accelerating the shift to a clean, electrified future. Leveraging Data, AI, and real-time decision-making we turn energy complexity into growth opportunities for our partners. By combining predictive algorithms with human-centred design, Kaluza makes clean energy dependable and affordable. With teams across Europe, Asia and Australia, and a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, we power leading companies including OVO, AGL and ENGIE, as well as innovators like Volvo and Volkswagen. What will I be doing? This is a global leadership role accountable for how clients experience Kaluza day to day. Reporting to the VP Product & Tech Operations, you'll run three global functions and hold global accountability for client support and SLA performance across every client and region: Client Support (incl. Incident & Problem Management) - our client-facing service desk, owning triage and first-contact resolution, incident response and the client/product-team relationship. Kaluza Platform Performance Assurance (KPPA) - our neutral source of truth on platform performance, monitoring contractual SLAs and journey health per client. Kaluza Product Specialists (KPS) - Global retail-energy experts fixing broken journeys and operational gaps outside core platform coverage - driving an automation-by-default approach across all client brands You'll lead the practice / craft globally, set the strategy and standard for how each operates, and be the steady, credible presence clients and colleagues rely on - from a board-level service review to a live Sev1. Specifically, you'll: Client Support, Incident & Problem Management Own incident response end to end - severity, Major Incident command, root cause analysis, client communication and resolution within contractual SLAs. Manage incoming support requests. Own Problem Management, driving root-cause remediation and reducing the rate and duration of incidents. Keep support frictionless - shielding Product & Engineering from noise while closing the loop with clients, and making sure postmortems land as real systemic change. SLA & Performance Assurance (KPPA) Own global monitoring of contractual SLAs, KPIs and performance metrics as the agreed source of truth per client. Run the assurance loop - prevent, diagnose, treat - and coordinate performance reporting into Client Service Reviews and senior leadership, raising events when performance deviates. Hold the line on data integrity (Datadog, Jira, Databricks) and embed Kaluza's Global Standard SLAs consistently across regions. Own the commercial relationship, budget and roadmap with our key Operational tooling vendors Provide oversight and inputs on commercial conversations related to client reporting of performance. Operational Resolution & Product Specialists (KPS) Own the processes that fix broken journeys and coverage gaps across all of our client brands, including new clients as we grow. Balance scheduled and ad-hoc work while keeping a safe, well-governed operational estate. Feed recurring manual interventions back to Product & Tech as signals for systemic fixes, and drive down manual effort through automation and AI. Across all three, you'll be genuinely AI-native - pushing AI into support, assurance and operations so each function does more with less - and you'll operate fluently at every altitude, staying neutral, evidence-led and a steady presence under pressure. About You Ideally you'll have/be: An accomplished operations and support leader with a strong track record. A builder, not an executor - you define what good looks like, take full accountability, and go looking for what you need rather than waiting for a brief. Genuinely AI-native - AI feels like leverage, and you actively push it into support, assurance and operational delivery. Steady in ambiguity - nimble, sharp and decisive in a live incident, and a steady presence clients and colleagues rely on. Experienced leading client support, service operations or service management at scale, ideally across multiple regions and enterprise clients. Fluent in incident and problem management (severity and Major Incident command, postmortem culture, root-cause remediation) and in managing against contractual SLAs. Able to understand, or quickly master, retail-energy operations and the operational reality of running processes around a platform. What will set you apart Comfortable with the data and tooling of assurance - SLAs, KPIs, observability (Datadog), Jira Service Management, and BI/warehouse tooling (Databricks/BigQuery) - enough to challenge the numbers, not just receive them. A credible partner to senior leadership and C-level clients, especially in a tense service review or live incident. A strong people leader and coach across multiple disciplines, able to build a self-solving, high-performing culture. Committed to radical candour and customer centricity, with experience scaling a high-growth SaaS business. Where you'll work We offer flexible working, with an expectation of 3 days a week in the office. This gives us the best of both: real time together to collaborate and build relationships, with the flexibility to work in the way that suits you best the rest of the week. Kaluza Values Here at Kaluza we have five core values that guide us as a business: Play to win, Solve the real problem, Build trust every day, Own the outcome, Go further together. Our Perks Pension Scheme Discretionary Bonus Scheme Private Medical Insurance + Virtual GP Life Assurance Access to Furthr - a Climate Action app Free Mortgage Advice and Eye Tests Perks at Work - access to thousands of retail discounts 5% Flex Fund - to spend on the benefits you want most 26 days holiday Flexible Bank Holidays - Giving you an additional 8 days which you can choose to take whenever you like Progressive Leave Policy - With no qualifying service periods, including up to 26 weeks full pay for primary caregivers and 4 weeks full pay for secondary caregivers when welcoming a new addition to your family. Personal Learning Budget - Upskill, learn and grow! Home Office Budget And more! We want the best people We're keen to meet people from all walks of life - our view is that the more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. We want to build teams which represent a variety of experiences, perspectives and skills, and we recognise talent on the basis of merit and potential. We understand some people may not apply for jobs unless they tick every box.
