Engineering has changed, and we're changing with it. We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple teams into AI-native, agentic software delivery — building products used by thousands of eCommerce merchants worldwide. We're not hiring for where engineering was. We're hiring for where it's going. your impact You'll lead several engineering teams and their managers, and shape how we build software as AI reshapes the craft. From spec to delivery, you'll move us toward agentic and multi-agent workflows — with the quality, security and cost controls to back them up. We build on and around Shopify, which moves just as fast, so staying current isn't a nice-to-have here. It's the job. You'll work from our Leicester city centre office three days a week, with two days remote. what you'll do: Lead and grow multiple engineering teams and their managers, building a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. Set long-term technical strategy with the architecture team and senior leadership, so engineering moves in step with company goals. Own roadmaps for complex, distributed, high-traffic systems — with resilience, observability and performance built in at scale. Raise AI maturity across your teams against our maturity model, moving from prompt, context and harness practices to agentic loops and multi-agent workflows. Keep building with new tools yourself so you stay sharp. Drive adoption of our AI development standards, including quality controls for AI-generated code. Manage AI tooling spend against the value it delivers, and escalate tooling gaps that block progress. Manage cross-team dependencies and handoffs, especially as agentic workflows change how work moves between teams. Lead hiring, performance and leadership development — growing your managers' AI fluency and recognising progress in performance and promotion decisions. Keep us secure and compliant, including governing what data AI tools and models can access. what you'll bring 8+ years in software engineering, including 4+ years in leadership, ideally managing managers. A degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience. A track record of scaling engineering organisations and landing new practices across multiple teams. Deep knowledge of large-scale system design, microservices and cloud-native architecture. Recent hands-on experience building working apps or tools with AI development tooling, and a clear view of its cost, security and quality tradeoffs. Experience balancing tech debt, reliability and feature delivery. Experience managing budgets, headcount and resourcing, including AI tooling and token spend. The influence to shape executive decisions and product strategy, and the coaching skills to grow strong leaders. Nice to have : Experience leading agentic workflows eCommerce experience, especially with Shopify Don't tick every box? Apply anyway. We're a global team with offices in Australia, the UK, Germany, Vietnam and the US, backed for the long term by PSG Equity and Silversmith Capital Partners. AI Platform Engineer
SchubergphilisSchiphol-Rijk, Germany6 days ago
Full TimeOn-siteMid
terraformkubernetesargocdgithub actionssreplatform engineering+3

Great AI doesn't start with a great model. It starts with a great platform. The success of an AI initiative is rarely determined by the model alone. More often, it depends on the quality of the platform underneath it. As a Platform Engineer in our central Data & AI team, you'll build the foundations that let engineers develop, deploy and operate AI workloads safely and efficiently. You'll work on the infrastructure, automation and platform capabilities that allow teams to innovate without compromising reliability, and you'll bridge the gap between promising technology and production reality. Think Kubernetes platforms, deployment automation, observability, security and developer experience. Think AI workloads built around Large Language Models, retrieval systems, graph technologies and modern data platforms. Think creating an environment where engineers focus on solving problems rather than fighting infrastructure. What you will work on Designing self-service platform capabilities using Kubernetes, Terraform and GitOps principles Operationalizing graph and vector databases, and enabling model serving workloads Improving the observability of AI systems running in production Integrating OpenAI or Anthropic-based services into our platform Operationalizing LangGraph workloads on Kubernetes Enabling GraphRAG architectures powered by Neo4j Designing deployment patterns so AI services meet the same standards as any other production workload You'll spend less time tuning models and more time making sure AI capabilities can be trusted, operated and continuously improved. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, software engineering and AI. At Schuberg Philis we don't believe in throwing solutions over the fence. The engineers building systems are responsible for running them too, and that ownership extends to AI just as much as every other technology we work with. Your impact won't be measured by the number of clusters you manage, but by how much autonomy and confidence other engineers gain from the platform you've built. We'd love to meet you if You care deeply about building platforms that other engineers love to use, and you're happiest when automation replaces repetitive work You have a strong background in Platform Engineering, SRE, infrastructure or distributed systems You have extensive experience building and operating Kubernetes-based and cloud-native environments, with infrastructure automation at scale You've built and operated production environments using tools such as Terraform, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions or similar You understand what it takes to operationalize AI workloads in production, and technologies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Neo4j, GraphRAG, vector databases or LangGraph are familiar territory You believe observability, reliability and security belong in every design conversation You enjoy improving developer experience through automation and self-service You see the gap between a successful proof of concept and a production-ready system and immediately start figuring out how to close it You take ownership of the result You get satisfaction from enabling other engineers to move faster and safer You are currently based in the Netherlands. Questions? Please do not hesitate to contact Maggie: 0623757086 Only applications submitted through the website will be considered. Please note that we do not work with external recruitment agencies and we will not pay any fees for unrequested CV introductions. Everyone we work with and consider working with has a right to equal treatment. The hiring and appraisal process at Schuberg Philis is designed to be thorough and equitable, implementing fair payment, benefits, and opportunities across all demographics. It is our desire to be a company that brings together multiple nationalities, cultures, religions, genders, abilities, and talents within and across our teams. About Us Base360.ai is the AI operating system for short-term rental businesses, helping property managers run their operations on autopilot. Born out of The Flex, a short-term rental operator that scaled to an eight-figure business using its own software, Base360.ai is now launching as a standalone platform for short-term rental operators worldwide. We bring reservations, guest communication, pricing, payments, cleaning, maintenance, and reporting into one platform—helping operators automate manual work, reduce costs, increase revenue, and scale their portfolios. We're looking for a highly ambitious Senior Software Engineer who wants to build systems that solve real problems at scale. You'll build, ship, automate, and deliver products that directly impact property managers, their teams, and their guests. If you're excited by APIs, automation, AI agents, cloud infrastructure, and building products from the ground up, we want to meet you. What You'll Build As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll help architect and scale Base360.ai —the platform powering every aspect of a short-term rental business. You'll build customer-facing products, automation engines, AI-powered workflows, integrations, and operational systems that help property managers grow without increasing their workload at the same rate. Your work will span the entire short-term rental lifecycle: from listing distribution, pricing, and bookings to guest stays, property operations, and financial reporting. Your Mission Build the Core Platform Design and develop scalable applications, services, and APIs that power reservations, availability, pricing, payments, guest experiences, and property operations. Create Powerful Automations Build event-driven workflows that eliminate repetitive work—from scheduling cleaning after a booking to sending check-in instructions and generating owner statements. Develop AI-Powered Systems Use LLMs and AI agents to automate guest communication, triage maintenance requests, support pricing decisions, and help operators manage their portfolios more efficiently. Design API-First Architecture Create robust APIs that connect internal services, booking channels, third-party providers, and customer systems. Integrate the Ecosystem Build and maintain integrations with platforms including Airbnb, Hostaway, Stripe, Twilio, OpenAI, Google, and other strategic partners across the short-term rental ecosystem. Scale Infrastructure Deploy and manage cloud-native infrastructure designed for reliability, performance, and global growth across multiple property management businesses. Solve Complex Operational Problems Build solutions for: Real-time reservation and availability synchronization Dynamic pricing intelligence Smart lock access and key management Automated guest communication across channels Operational forecasting Cleaning and maintenance automation Owner reporting and financial workflows AI-powered monitoring and alerts Move Fast and Own Delivery Own projects end-to-end—from understanding an operator's problem to architecture, implementation, deployment, and ongoing improvement. Bring senior engineering judgment to technical decisions, code reviews, and the reliability of the systems you build. Tech Stack We care more about capability than specific technologies, but our current stack includes: Python FastAPI React TypeScript Supabase PostgreSQL AWS Serverless architecture OpenAI APIs Twilio Stripe Docker GitHub Actions You Might Be a Great Fit If You Have Strong experience building and owning production-grade software systems Experience with FastAPI, Python, React, or similar frameworks Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and cloud architecture Experience designing scalable backend systems and reliable data models The ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions Strong problem-solving skills and a product mindset Curiosity about AI, automation, and operational efficiency A bias toward action, shipping, and learning from real users The ability to balance delivery speed with maintainability and reliability Bonus points for experience with: Short-term rentals, hospitality technology, or property management systems Multi-tenant SaaS platforms Marketplace businesses and booking channel integrations AI agents and workflow automation Event-driven architectures Supabase AWS serverless infrastructure What Success Looks Like Within your first 12 months: Core short-term rental workflows are automated through systems you've built Property managers spend less time on manual administration Reservations, availability, payments, and operational data move reliably between systems New integrations are deployed and maintained reliably AI-powered workflows become part of customers' everyday operations The platform supports more operators and properties while maintaining reliability and performance Base360.ai helps customers grow their portfolios, improve guest experiences, and operate more profitably Why Join Us Build Something Meaningful Solve problems experienced daily by short-term rental operators, with direct access to The Flex's operations to test ideas and see their impact. Extreme Ownership Have the freedom and responsibility to make technical decisions and deliver systems that matter. Small Team, Massive Opportunity Work closely with the founders and directly influence the product and technical direction of Base360.ai . Learn Faster Solve real-world challenges across software, AI, automation, hospitality operations, and scale. Performance-Based Rewards Competitive compensation with substantial upside for exceptional performers. Remote-First Work from anywhere. We care about outcomes, not hours. This Role Is Not For You If You're looking for a slow-paced corporate environment You prefer a narrowly defined role with limited product involvement You need detailed instructions for every task You avoid ownership and accountability You're comfortable shipping work without taking responsibility for its quality We're looking for someone who wants to help build the AI operating system for the short-term rental industry. #LI-Remote Find Jobs in France on Arbeitnow
