About Pelico Traditional industrial manufacturing systems were built for predictability. Supply chains no longer are. Today, real-time data is buried in legacy tools that weren't designed for constant disruption. By the time an issue surfaces, it has already snowballed, sending everyone into firefighting mode. Pelico exists to close the gap between production plans and the daily reality on the factory floor. We've built the manufacturing orchestration platform trusted by the world's most complex industrial operations : companies like Airbus, Boeing, Safran, Eaton, and Cartier. Our AI connects fragmented supply chain, production, and quality data into a single live operational picture — then puts AI agents to work anticipating disruptions, simulating recovery options, and keeping every team aligned before small problems become expensive ones. Founded in 2019 and backed by General Catalyst, 83North, and Serena, we've raised $72M and are growing fast — 300% year-over-year revenue growth, deployed in 15+ countries, and supporting factories worldwide. We're headquartered in Paris, with offices in Miami, London and Amsterdam, and we're just getting started. This is a rare chance to join a company that's redefining an industry that hasn't been disrupted in decades — from the inside. About the Role This role focuses on building performant, maintainable systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful features that meet business and customer needs. You'll lead development of Pelico's ETL backend in Java, owning scalability and performance for the systems that turn complex, high-volume manufacturing data into a single live operational picture. About Ryft Ryft is a regulated payment facilitator and authorised payment institution building the infrastructure layer for modern commerce platforms. We enable marketplaces, SaaS platforms and multi-party ecosystems to embed and monetise payments natively. Our technology handles onboarding, compliance, orchestration, split payments and revenue sharing, allowing our partners to focus on growth while we manage complexity. We are now entering the next phase of scale, expanding into new verticals and building a category-defining embedded payments platform. About the Job Are you a senior backend engineer who wants to own the systems that move real money, on a platform still young enough to shape? We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join one of our core payments squads. You'll work in C#/.NET on AWS, building the event-driven services behind everything Ryft does: taking payments, splitting them between marketplaces and their sellers, moving money out, and keeping all of it correct under load and under regulation. This is a hands-on senior engineering role. You'll be in the conversation from design through to production, shaping the architecture, writing the code, reviewing your squad's, and owning what you ship once it's live. Our platform is a few years old, not a few decades: there's genuine greenfield alongside services you'll inherit and improve, and the decisions you make this year will still be load-bearing in three. What You'll Work On Payment integrations: building and extending our integrations with acquirers, processors, and alternative payment methods. Each one is a different set of rules, webhooks, and failure modes to model properly. Marketplace money movement: splits, balances, fees, payouts, and settlement. This is the part of the platform where being nearly right isn't a category that exists. Merchant accounts and onboarding: the services behind automated onboarding, underwriting, and the account lifecycle. In-person payments: our card-present estate, terminals, and the flows that connect physical checkouts to the same platform. Post-transaction flows: refunds, disputes and chargebacks, reconciliation, and reporting the unglamorous surfaces that merchants judge us on. European expansion: new markets, new payment methods, and the platform work that comes with operating in more places. The platform itself: our event-driven service estate on AWS, our infrastructure-as-code, our observability, and the tooling that keeps a small team shipping fast. Responsibilities Build and ship: Deliver backend features end-to-end, from design through to production, to a consistently high standard. Design for correctness: Write services that behave under retries, partial failure, and concurrency. Idempotency, consistency, and accurate money maths are the job, not edge cases. Own it in production: Take real ownership of what you ship instrumentation, alerting, on-call, and incident response in a regulated payments environment. Harness AI, stay in control: Use AI-assisted workflows to multiply your output (we invest heavily in them) while remaining in full command of every line you ship. Raise the bar: Improve the codebase with every feature. Review well, set conventions, and push our standards forward. Contribute to technical direction: Bring your judgement to architectural decisions across the platform, not just inside your own tickets. Collaborate: Work day-to-day with your engineering manager, Product, and the other squads to ship secure, scalable payments features. Experience & Skills Required Strong backend engineering: Significant commercial experience building and running production backend services. We work in C#/.NET, so depth there is ideal but if you're excellent in another modern typed language and will get fluent fast, we want to hear from you. AWS in production: Hands-on experience running services on AWS containers and serverless alike (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, SNS/SQS, DynamoDB or similar NoSQL) and the operational reality that comes with them. Distributed systems judgement: Comfortable reasoning about service boundaries, asynchronous messaging, eventual consistency, and what happens when a downstream provider stops answering. Quality instincts: You care about testable design, meaningful test coverage, and API design, and you know when good enough really is good enough. AI-augmented, engineer-first: You use AI coding tools effectively to move faster, but you review, understand, and take full ownership of the output. We are not looking for someone who ships code they can't explain. Fast, self-directed learner: A track record of getting productive quickly in unfamiliar domains and codebases. Enthusiasm to learn matters more to us than payments knowledge on day one. Small-team fit: Comfortable with the flexibility of a scaling team, happy to own problems end-to-end, and ready to turn your hand to whatever gets the product shipped. Nice to Have Payments or fintech experience: Familiarity with the payment value chain, scheme rules, PCI-conscious development, or building in a regulated financial environment. Infrastructure ownership: Infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes). Observability: Experience with metrics, tracing, and alerting — Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or similar. Breadth beyond the backend: Exposure to React or React Native, or experience maintaining published SDKs with external consumers. Why Ryft? If you want to build the systems that move money in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you. We value engineers who care about the craft, speak up with their ideas, and take pride in what they ship. You'll join a team where your voice is heard, your work matters, and there's plenty of room to grow. Find Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow

Prioritisation Excellence: A data-driven approach to prioritisation, with the ability to say "no" or "not now" to protect the platform's integrity. Technical Literacy: While you don't need to write code, you should be comfortable discussing system architecture and technical constraints with senior engineers. About the Job We're hiring a Senior Data Engineer to own everything that happens to our data after it is written. The boundary with Software Engineering is drawn in one line: they own everything up to the write, you own everything after it — capture, ingestion, the bronze layer, and the data services that run on top. You'll build the change data capture and event-driven ingestion platform that gets data out of our source systems reliably, and hand a clean, contracted bronze layer to the analytics team. This is a senior individual contributor role, hands-on every day, working alongside the Data Lead and the Analytics Lead. Year one is build-heavy: CDC and event ingestion into S3 and delivering our warehouse migration end to end. Our current stack is AWS, RDS Postgres, Dagster, dbt, and Superset. This is a hybrid role based in central Manchester, with 2 days per week in the office. What you'll do Build the ingestion layer: Capture change streams off our transactional stores into S3, alongside the domain events our services emit, so the warehouse reflects both current state and what happened to get there. Own the bronze layer: Land data reliably at a known latency, with schema evolution handled deliberately rather than survived. Replay and backfill should be routine operations. Hold the contract at the boundary: Agree with Software Engineering what crosses the write, in what shape, with what notice when it changes — then enforce it on your side, so a schema change is a handled event rather than an outage. Deliver the warehouse migration: Moving off Postgres is a priority for the next twelve months. You'll own it end to end, from evaluation through to cutover, and your view on the target platform carries real weight. Run what you build: Deployments, behaviour in production, observability, runtime cost, and reliability. We're expanding into the EU, so regional data residency is a design constraint from the start rather than a retrofit. What we're looking for Several years building and running production data platforms, comfortable being the most senior engineer on the platform day to day Real AWS depth in production, across S3, IAM, networking, and the ingestion and messaging services (Kinesis / Firehose, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, Lambda or equivalent) Hands-on change data capture and event-driven ingestion — you understand delivery guarantees, idempotency, ordering, duplicates, and replay, and what each costs to get right Strong production Python and SQL, a cloud warehouse (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery or similar), and an orchestrator (Dagster, Airflow or equivalent) You've run what you built, been called when it broke, and changed something structural afterwards — Git, pull requests, CI/CD and testing are defaults, not aspirations Comfortable working inside an infrastructure estate you don't own, and able to negotiate what you need from teams whose backlogs you don't control Pragmatic — you ship working things and know when a simple solution now beats an elegant one later Nice to have Payments or fintech experience, particularly transaction, ledger, or reconciliation data Change data capture out of DynamoDB or a similar store A warehouse or platform migration behind you dbt familiarity, so you know how your outputs get consumed Multi-account AWS, data residency work, data contracts or schema registries What you'll get Near-greenfield platform ownership at an FCA-regulated payments business, with the ownership boundaries drawn and agreed — you'll spend your time building, not arguing about whose job something is Direct exposure to senior leadership, with real influence over the target architecture A seat at a fast-growing, well-funded fintech scaling in a genuinely underserved part of the payments market Find Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow
The opportunity We're a stealth startup in AI and bio, building infrastructure for data generation. The team is small and elite, the problems are hard, and the foundations are being laid right now. You'd help write them from the first line, with real ownership and a direct line to the founders. About us AI for biology has a data problem. The data that matters most doesn't exist yet, so we're building the infrastructure to produce it, with quality and traceability built in from day one. We're in stealth and heads-down on execution. We'll share more about what we're building once you've spoken with the team. What you'll do You will build the core software behind our lab, working across the stack with the founding software engineer and the wider team. Where you land depends on you and on what we need next. Any of these could be yours: Data infrastructure and the data model underpinning how we ingest, process and output data APIs and services that other systems and agents plug into Workflow orchestration and the systems that track what the lab is doing in real time Pipelines that structure incoming data, with audit logging so nothing is unaccounted for The platform underneath it all: data-serving abstractions, auth and access control, and observability Whatever you own, you own it end to end. You will write production code from your first weeks, help set the architecture and the engineering culture, and work closely with scientists and with the team that learns from the data we produce. Your first 90 days FIRST 30 DAYS Get productive in the codebase and ship your first change, following the team's review and deployment practices. Take ownership of a service or surface within the team. DAYS 30 TO 60 Ship a meaningful slice of your surface into use, in the hands of the scientists who depend on it. Wire your work into the shared data model so everything it touches is captured and traceable. DAYS 60 TO 90 Own your surface end to end, including its reliability, observability and on-call. Help shape the architecture and the next hires as the team scales. Who you are You are a generalist who has shipped production systems that other people depend on. You write good code at speed, you have opinions about architecture, and you have learned when to hold them and when to defer. You are happy owning a service end to end, including the parts that are not glamorous. You have worked across the stack and can pick up whatever the problem in front of you needs. You do not need a biology background and we will not test for one; the science is something you will learn by working next to it. What we do want is curiosity about what this infrastructure makes possible, and what it means for the people who will use it. MUST HAVE Bar-raising. You strive for excellence, raise the bar wherever you land, and hold it when it would be easier not to. We care about the finest details in our processes and our software, and you should want to. Speed. Comfortable with ambiguity, with a bias towards action, learning and iterating. You can decide on partial information and revisit when better information arrives. Big-picture thinking. There is a voice in your head asking why you are building this, who it is for, and what would make it 100x better. Range. A generalist: backend services and APIs, data pipelines, and front-end to ship a usable interface. Fluent in at least one language you build production services in, and happy to work in whatever stack the team settles on. AI-native building. You build with coding agents by default, and you have opinions and taste about what they produce rather than blind faith in the output. Engineering discipline. Rigorous CI/CD and automated testing are how you work, not something you bolt on later. End-to-end ownership. Architecture, reliability, observability and the on-call pager, including the parts that are not glamorous. NICE TO HAVE Experience at the software-to-physical-world boundary (lab automation, robotics, manufacturing, logistics, scientific instruments, or energy). Orchestration, scheduling or workflow-engine work, and distributed systems at scale. Data-intensive systems: pipelines, ontologies or knowledge graphs, provenance or lineage. Early-stage or founding-engineer experience at a venture-backed company. Why this is unusual Most software roles like this build a product that lives entirely on a screen. This one connects to the physical world. The software you build drives real experiments, and the data it captures is the product, not telemetry about it. When something deviates, your software is what catches it and records why. You will also work at the same table as software, hardware and biology, and the three do not always agree. Some engineers find that mix energising; some find it distracting. It is worth knowing in advance which one you are. How we work You will work in a hybrid pattern with regular time in London, close to the people and the work, because the software is built close to the thing it runs. The rest of the team is distributed across several locations and works flexibly, and we keep a light shared rhythm: a Monday kickoff, a Thursday all-hands, a short daily team sync, and a quarterly offsite. We are a small team that documents in the open and backs the best idea regardless of who has it. We look after people well. In the UK that means 30 days of annual leave plus public holidays, a pension with a 10% employer contribution, and top-tier private health cover with Bupa, with more added as the team grows. The process Screening, then a behavioural and cultural-fit conversation, then a technical session or work sample with the team, including time in person in London, then references. We are an equal opportunity employer. We make hiring decisions on merit, scope-fit, and the strength of the working relationship we expect to build with each hire. Applications welcome from candidates of any background. Find Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow
LEVEL: Scientist / Senior Scientist · LOCATION: London (20 Triton Street) · PATTERN: In-person, lab-based The opportunity We are building the protein production cascade that turns a sequence into characterised, quality-controlled protein at scale, and you will build it from the first manual run. This is the work upstream of every protein data point we generates: DNA design, molecular biology, protein expression, purification, and quality control, developed by hand and engineered to move onto automation. About us AI for biology has a data problem. The data that matters most doesn't exist yet, so we're building the infrastructure to produce it, with quality and traceability built in from day one. We're in stealth and heads-down on execution. We'll share more about what we're building once you've spoken with the team. The role You will build the protein production cascade that sits upstream of molecular characterisation and functional assays: DNA design, molecular biology, protein expression, purification, and quality control through analytical characterisation. The cascade will eventually run autonomously on our automation platform. In the first phase, you develop each step by hand, running protocols manually, setting reproducibility and quality thresholds, and proving each phase works before it moves onto instrumentation. As the automation platform comes online, the work shifts toward instrumented execution, equivalence validation, and the engineering judgement calls that decide which manual steps get automated and which stay in human hands. You will work directly with the automation engineering and software teams on the boundary between scientific protocols and autonomous execution, at Scientist or Senior Scientist level, alongside Principal Scientists at the bench, and you will grow into protocol authorship over the first year. What you will do in your first twelve months PHASE 0 · NOW TO AUG 2026 ◆ Land in the lab. Set up your bench at the London site and start manual assay development alongside a senior member of the protein sciences vertical. ◆ Get hands on the first priority protein production workflows as the day-one assay menu locks. ◆ Start building DNA design and production (linear DNA), protein expression (cell-free), and protein purification and QC at high throughput. Run them by hand on equipment that will eventually move onto the automation platform, capturing the data-structure and metadata decisions that translate into automation design. ◆ Build reproducibility, precision, and acceptance thresholds into the workflow. ◆ Contribute to the day-one menu decisions and begin authoring SOPs for your slice of the assay portfolio. Help interview the scientists and lab technicians joining alongside you. PHASE 1 · SEP TO DEC 2026 ◆ Have a linear DNA, cell-free expression, purification, and QC workflow in a semi-automated state, running at the scale of hundreds to thousands per week and ready for full automation. ◆ Co-design protocols with the software and automation engineering teams so the manual versions you validate are automation-ready by design. Decide which manual judgement calls have to be engineered out before they reach the platform. ◆ Start building DNA design and production (plasmid DNA), protein expression (mammalian), and protein purification and QC at high throughput, again by hand on equipment that will move onto the platform. ◆ Build reproducibility, precision, and acceptance thresholds into the workflow. ◆ Contribute to co-design conversations with the first commercial customers, including the foundation-model partners coming online from 2027. PHASE 2 · JAN TO MAR 2027 ◆ Workcells arrive in the lab. Move the validated assays onto them, running with instrumentation and human intervention in the loop. Validate equivalence against your manual baselines and triage failures. ◆ Open the assay menu to customers through manual and semi-automated services. Run real experiments for real customers. ◆ Help bring on the next scientists and lab technicians as the vertical grows. Who you are You are a protein scientist who is excited about the actual work: designing, running, and validating at the bench. You are comfortable in the details. You have hands-on experience with high throughput, plate-based methods across molecular biology, protein expression, purification, and QC. The shape of the problem is what attracts you: assays designed for autonomous execution from day one, in a business where the data the lab produces is itself the product. You write good SOPs, and you hold yourself and your colleagues to clear reproducibility thresholds. You are pragmatic about being hands-on in the early phase, when the cadence is heaviest, and you understand it eases as protocols move onto instrumentation. You enjoy working at the boundary with non-biologist colleagues (automation engineers, software engineers, AI researchers), and you do not require them to be scientifically fluent before you will collaborate. This role is open at Scientist and Senior Scientist level. The work is hands-on bench science at both, with collaboration into automation and software; the difference is depth of ownership, design authority, and how much of the team you help build. We do not hire people into boxes, and the early team stretches beyond the strict edges of any role. MUST HAVE ◆ Comfortable handling DNA design and linear and plasmid DNA production at high throughput, expressing proteins, and purifying them with QC steps for validation, executing protocols at the bench through manual, semi-automated, and instrumented phases. ◆ Core experience within biologics. ◆ A track record of working alongside non-scientist colleagues (automation, software, computational) on a shared workflow. ◆ A PhD in protein biochemistry, molecular or structural biology, biophysics, analytical characterisation, or biologics developability, with two or more years of relevant hands-on experience; or a relevant science MSc with five or more years of equivalent bench experience in protein science. ◆ Independent, hands-on competence across protein science: molecular biology (DNA production with Gibson and Golden Gate assembly at transfection-grade quality), protein expression (cell-free, IVTT, E. coli and mammalian), and protein purification (automated magnetic-bead workflows), with exposure to at least one of these at high throughput (24, 96, and 384-well plate formats). Protein characterisation across at least two core biophysical methods (for example CE-SDS, DLS, nanoDSF/DSF, analytical SEC, HIC, or LC-MS intact mass analysis). ◆ Confident data analysis, including telling instrument artefacts apart from genuine molecule behaviour. ◆ Fluency with structured experimental data capture, and proficiency with a LIMS, ELN, or analogous data infrastructure. ◆ Ready to grow into protocol authorship and SOP ownership over the first twelve months. NICE TO HAVE ◆ Direct experience moving biophysical or analytical assays from manual workflows onto lab automation platforms (at least a handoff into an automated platform). ◆ High throughput experience in at least one core biophysical platform (SPR or BLI for binding kinetics), plus one or more orthogonal characterisation or developability assays (for example nanoDSF/DSF, DLS, analytical SEC, HIC, AC-SINS, cIEF, or CE-SDS). ◆ Experience developing novel high throughput technologies in DNA generation, cell expression (cell-free, mammalian), or bead-based purification. ◆ Method development and validation experience: defining acceptance criteria, references, and controls that other scientists have run successfully. ◆ SOP and protocol authorship that others have executed, and experience supervising at least one junior scientist or technician. ◆ Experience working with computational or AI/ML colleagues on closed-loop assay programmes. ◆ Background at an AI-native biotech or foundation-model company. Why this is unusual Most protein science roles like this inherit an established workflow and optimise it. This one does not. No assay in this vertical is being retrofitted onto automation; every protocol is designed for AI-in-the-loop execution from the first manual run. The data each assay produces, its output structure, metadata, provenance, and consistency across runs, is treated as a first-class scientific constraint, because that data feeds directly into foundation-model training pipelines. Your decisions at the bench affect what the orchestrator has to do and what data leaves the building. Some scientists find this energising; others find it outside the lane they trained for. It is worth knowing in advance which one you are. How we work This role is on site five days a week at our London Lab. The lab is a physical place and the work is in it. We work in the open. Decisions are written down, work happens in Slack rather than scattered across tools, and the week is bookended by a Monday kick-off and a Thursday wrap that the whole company attends. There is a quarterly offsite. Each person owns their area and makes the call inside it, and we will expect that of you early rather than late. UK benefits are 30 days of annual leave plus public holidays, a pension with a 10% employer contribution, and top-tier Bupa private health cover. More is added as the team grows. The team you will join You will join the protein sciences vertical, working day to day alongside a senior member of the vertical and the automation engineering and software teams who turn the manual cascade into an automated one. Our process and how to apply Our process has four stages. A short screening call about the role and the practicalities. A conversation about how you work, run from the same template for every candidate, before anything technical. A practical exercise drawn from a real problem in our lab, followed by a discussion of what you did and why. Then references, aimed at whatever we still want to understand. We are an equal opportunity employer. We make hiring decisions on merit, scope-fit, and the strength of the working relationship we expect to build with each hire. Applications welcome from candidates of any background. Find more English Speaking Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow
