About the Role Our firmware team is growing, and we are looking for a senior engineer to take the lead on core parts of it. You'll own major parts of the embedded Rust firmware at the heart of the BMS, deliver features end to end on your own and help shape how the firmware is built. Together with Stefan, our CTO, and our embedded Rust engineer, you'll take on architecture decisions and code reviews and help take us from a tested prototype to a fully certified product. The technology is proven, the funding is secured, and the foundations you set now will define how every future Anori BMS works. Start date : from January 1, 2027 What You'll Do Own, design, implement and ship firmware features for the BMS, from requirement to verified release Extend our middleware and independent modules into one real-time system: their control and data flow, scheduling and how they stay predictable under load Mentor other engineers on the team, lead code reviews and raise the bar for code quality across the team Set and evolve the engineering practices that keep the firmware trustworthy: testing, CI/CD, HiL, coverage and end-to-end requirements traceability Debug and trace on real hardware across ARM and RISC-V cores, down to interrupt priorities, the memory map and timing of individual functions What You Bring Must have Several years of production Rust on embedded targets (no_std), including features you designed and shipped yourself Experience making, documenting and defending architecture trade-offs for embedded systems A quality mindset: hands-on test experience, CI and coverage as everyday tools, and code reviews with constructive feedback. Critical, analytical, systematic thinking: you reason from first principles, make your assumptions explicit and challenge existing paradigms Strongly preferred Deep embedded experience incl. async Rust on embedded targets, down to the executor: futures, wakers, pinning Architecture of multicore and multi-controller systems: the partition of work, data and timing across cores and controllers Hands-on debugging and tracing on ARM and RISC-V Knowledge of various communication protocols and stacks: CAN, LIN, BLE, LTE modems Basic hardware skills: reading schematics, working with an oscilloscope, board bring-up, debugging Nice to have Formal methods for embedded software: model checking, or a proof of a scheduling or memory property A background in safety-critical (IEC 61508, ISO 26262, …) and battery systems Comfortable implementing numerical algorithms (filtering, state estimation) on constrained hardware Experience mentoring other engineers You don't tick every box? Apply anyway. No one matches a job description 100%. If this role excites you and you see yourself growing into it, we want to hear from you. What We Offer Work on a product with purpose that redefines the state of art: our product is a key part to enable competitive battery energy storage. Work directly with the founding team on decisions that shape the company. The team is small, so your ideas will matter. A lot. Challenging engineering in an industrial, but research-near environment. We bring research into the industry. A modern stack and methods: Rust, MBSE, everything as code, and the best tools and techniques for the job, chosen on merit. To be both supported and challenged: room to grow, and the expectation that you will. You might be a fit if You hold yourself to a high standard and don't settle for "good enough." You want to have a big say in what the Anori BMS looks like and how it works You are eager to try out new tools and enjoy incorporating AI into your work to make your life easier and more productive You are excited about startups and all the opportunities and uncertainties that come with it You want to be an active part in accelerating the energy transition in Europe You are comfortable with English as a working language You are happy to be in the office most of the time because for fast decisions we need to be in the same room. We expect you to be in the office at least 3 days / week Interview Process 1. First Call A short chat with one of our founders. Our ambition is to build a category-defining company that helps tens of millions of audio creators visualize and promote their work. We've got here with a small team and very little overhead. Now we're growing quickly, and the operational side of the company - finance, people admin, tooling, office, contracts - run through the founder and Founders Associate. We're looking for the person who takes that over and makes it quietly reliable. This is a hands-on role. You'll be the one the tax firm calls, the one who makes sure a new hire is on payroll and has a laptop and every tool on day one, the one who knows when every contract and insurance renews, and the one who fixes reconciliation mess instead of filing a ticket about it. You'll work directly with the founder, alongside our Founder's Associate and with our external accountants and virtual assistant. Tasks Own finance operations: be the point of contact for our tax firm and payroll provider, run the monthly close inputs, keep Stripe invoicing, refunds and credit notes clean and reconciled, and resolve open questions before they reach the founder Assemble a monthly numbers pack - revenue, cash, margin, cloud costs, payroll, headcount - from Stripe, the accountants and our internal data Own people administration: contracts, probation periods, holidays, absence and time tracking, documents and compliance. Be the person the team asks about payslips, holiday balances and contract Manage our virtual assistant and the work we outsource Own tool access, equipment and IT: accounts, licences, laptops, security basics, and the day-one setup for every new hire from the onboarding checklist Own the office: lease, supplies, equipment, access, the practical things that make the place work Track every recurring vendor, contract, insurance and compliance obligation in one place so nothing depends on somebody remembering it Handle the booking, budget and logistics behind team events and the annual offsite Requirements You have 3–6 years of experience in operations, finance operations or people operations at a small, fast-growing company, and have been the person who kept it running You have personally owned the relationship with an external tax firm and payroll provider, including monthly close and the questions that come with it You are hands-on with Stripe or a comparable payment system and understand invoices, refunds, credit notes and reconciliation; DATEV experience is a strong plus You are familiar with Personio or a similar HRIS and know German employment administration You make things tidy without being asked, close loops reliably, and are slightly allergic to loose ends You are comfortable making small decisions on your own and bringing the founder only the ones that need him You communicate clearly in German and English You are based in Berlin and can join us in the office at least four days per week Bonus points: Experience in consumer subscription or SaaS, especially with Stripe at volume and international VAT Google Workspace, Notion, Slack, and Linear administration You have worked in both a structured company and a scrappy startup and know what is worth copying from each How we measure success Within your first month, you've audited all recurring finance, admin, and tooling tasks currently handled by the founder, agreed on clear ownership of what you'll take over, established yourself as the main point of contact for our tax firm, and mapped every vendor, contract, and compliance deadline. Within 90 days, finance operations, people admin, tool access, and office management run smoothly without input from the founder or Founder's Associate. The founder has received the monthly financial numbers pack twice without having to put it together himself. Our Founder's Associate can hand you a new hire, and you'll have them on payroll, fully equipped, and ready to go within a day. Within a year, a new hire can be contracted, paid, equipped, and fully onboarded into our systems without any involvement from the founder. No contract renewal or compliance deadline has been missed, and the company has scaled significantly without operational processes becoming a bottleneck. Benefits VSOPs and profit sharing, bi-weekly team lunches, regular team events, an annual summer offsite, learning and development support, productivity tools, a headphone allowance, Deutschlandticket, and a €5,000 referral bonus. Neural Frames is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, and are committed to building an inclusive and supportive workplace.
