adjoe builds the technologies behind mobile apps growth and monetization. With our core product Playtime Arcade , we've become the global leader in rewarded advertising, an ad unit built on a simple premise: users earn real in-app rewards for engaging with new apps. The result is one of the most effective value exchanges in adtech, connecting advertisers and publishers with over 770 million users annually. Ensuring Authenticity for Billions of Daily Rewards Industry reports suggest 25 percent of global mobile ad spend is lost to fraudulent activities like click farms, fake installs, SDK spoofing, and emulator farms. At adjoe, we define our platform through trust and proactive engineering. We build high-performance defenses that guarantee accurate reward attribution, ensuring every interaction is authentic. This creates a sustainable value exchange that empowers our partners to grow with confidence. The Anti-Fraud team develops systems that detect and prevent malicious activity at scale. Our custom Android and iOS SDKs analyze device integrity for modifications like Xposed frameworks, Magisk modules, and jailbroken devices. Supporting these, Go microservices and DynamoDB deliver millisecond-level responses, while Kafka and SQS process billions of daily events in real time . This infrastructure protects publisher margins and ensures a trustworthy platform for all users. Your Mission & Who We Are Looking For: AdTech Domain & Anti-Fraud Core Requirement You bring a solid foundation in the AdTech ecosystem (publishers, advertisers, SDK attribution, monetization) and direct exposure to cheating in mobile games. Joining our Anti-Fraud Operations unit, you will act as the primary technical PoC for Support, Sales, and BI teams, owning complex fraud escalations and translating business edge cases into technical fixes. Investigative Mindset & Root-Cause Analysis You possess eagle-eyed curiosity and an investigative, hacker mindset. When publisher margins drop, external platforms (iOS/Android) shift, or campaigns misbehave, you won't wait for step-by-step instructions—you will connect messy clues, reproduce exploit scenarios, and trace non-obvious fraud patterns to their source. AI-Empowered Big Data Interrogation You will leverage AI tools alongside Trino SQL, ScyllaDB, and DynamoDB to rapidly query and analyze billions of daily telemetry events. You will direct AI to accelerate complex data analyses, build models, and surface bad actors in real time without getting bogged down in manual query assembly. Observability, Profiling & Microservice Debugging You will monitor platform health and debug system anomalies using Kibana, Grafana, and Go profiling tools like Pyroscope and pprof. You will trace real-time pipeline bottlenecks and API glitches across Kafka, SQS, and Go microservices to catch bugs or platform misconfigurations. Cross-Functional Fraud Mitigation & Pragmatic Engineering You bring a functional software development background in backend engineering (preferably Go) alongside experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, allowing you to comfortably navigate backend code logic. Collaborating with Backend, Mobile, and Data Science teams, you will use AI to draft clean code fixes, propose new detection rules, and take full responsibility for deploying verified mitigations that protect publisher margins. 🌎 We welcome applications from talent worldwide and provide relocation support to Hamburg, Germany for those ready to join our team. What's in It for You? At adjoe, you're not here to just close JIRA tickets, you're helping build the infrastructure behind one of the most impactful platforms in adtech. The systems you work on will reach hundreds of millions of users and power billions of decisions every day. Go Big. Own projects with impact on 770M users and push adtech boundaries. Move Fast. Ship solutions multiple times a day, learn from results, and keep momentum. Be Direct. Solve problems openly and collaborate across teams. Thrive Together. Grow with a diverse, global team of people from over 40 different countries that learn from each other. Have Fun. Celebrate wins, enjoy daily victories, and bring your energy. The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission: Vinted Marketplace is Europe's leading platform for second-hand fashion and a go-to destination for all kinds of pre-loved items, with a growing range of categories. Our platform connects millions of members across 20+ markets, helping great items find a new life. Vinted Pay is the newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to bringing secure, reliable payments to buyers and sellers across Europe. Seamlessly integrated into the Vinted app, it helps keep every transaction safe, efficient, and easy for our members. Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people. Information about the position When an incident happens in production at Vinted, how quickly our engineering teams recover directly affects millions of members across Europe and the US. In this role, you will be the lead technical architect for VITA, our in house platform for alerts, on call routing, incident management, and SLOs. Every single production alert at Vinted flows through VITA, and every incident is coordinated through it in Slack, from declaration to postmortem. You will join a focused engineering team within our Service Ecosystem domain. The previous lead engineer recently stepped up to become the team Engineering Manager, which means we now need an experienced technical partner to take over the architectural vision. Because our team operates without a dedicated product manager, you will enjoy true product ownership. You will spend roughly half your time on technical discovery, researching solutions, and shaping our roadmap directly with engineering stakeholders and directors across Vinted. In this position, you'll Lead the team's technical direction: scope complex problems, design solutions and coordinate delivery across teams. Own incident management and on-call processes, and lead improvements to both the processes and the tooling. Eliminate alert fatigue across Vinted, collaborating with engineering teams to group noisy alerts, establish alert standards, and make every page actionable. Advance practical AI in production, designing the event pipelines that allow our AI incident agent to accurately suggest root causes during live outages in minutes. Define standards for SLOs and alerts across Vinted, and simplify the tools teams use to create them. Define and track the product and process metrics that show whether our work makes a difference. Keep alert routing and our other critical systems reliable and simple to operate, so the team can move faster. Act as a technical mentor and multiplier for a growing team of five engineers, elevating their engineering discipline through thoughtful system design reviews and collaborative RFCs. About you Proven experience architecting, building, and operating high scale distributed systems in production. Our platform is built in Go, but we warmly welcome strong backgrounds in Java, Rust, Python, C++, or similar technologies. Have experience owning distributed systems in production, from design to operation. Have been on call and responded to production incidents, and are happy to keep doing it. Strong product mindset for developer tooling. You treat other engineers as your customers, listen to user pain points, and measure success by adoption and developer happiness. Understand observability: metrics, logs, traces and SLOs. Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory, paired with strong technical communication and diplomacy. You can explain architectural risks clearly to non technical stakeholders and have the confidence to challenge senior leaders constructively with data and SLOs. Natural mentor and collaborator. You take pride in lifting others up, breaking down complex technical problems, and helping newer engineers grow safely. Advantage: experience with incident management, on-call or observability tooling, or in a platform team serving other engineers. Advantage: experience building LLM-based tools or agents. Work perks The opportunity to benefit from our share options programme 25 days of paid annual leave Newest MacBook models Confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your family Frequent team-building events Home office support: we provide IT workstation equipment and a personal budget of up to €540 for home workplace furniture A daily lunch allowance Company bike leasing scheme Monthly budget for a flexible benefits platform Work from Home allowance Collective Defined Contribution Pension plan A personal monthly budget for shopping on Vinted An NS mobility card A dog-friendly office Working at Vinted Workation policy Better balance holidays with workdays by working remotely! Who We Are You've ordered dinner through Just Eat Takeaway. You've bought and sold on OLX. You've paid with PayU. Chances are, you've already used a Prosus company today. We are Prosus, a global technology company powering some of the world's leading lifestyle ecommerce businesses. Every day, billions of people across India, Latin America, Europe and beyond use our products and services to buy, sell, pay, connect and discover. Our AI-driven ecosystem spans 100+ companies across ecommerce, food delivery, fintech and experiences, serving billions of consumers worldwide. AI powers how we operate and innovate, with more than 60,000 active AI agents helping our teams build, scale and move faster. Through our investment team, we also back the founders and technologies shaping the future: From robotics and autonomous systems to synthetic biology and frontier AI. Guided by our five values Innovation, Results, People, Impact, and Entrepreneurship, culture is our competitive advantage. We thrive with experimentation; we build, we test, we learn, we iterate. Join us in shaping the future of technology at global scale. The Opportunity Toqan is Prosus's internal AI platform — the infrastructure and tooling layer that powers agentic AI-driven products across the entire group. We are building secure, configurable agent runtimes that can operate reliably at scale across different products, channels and use cases.. You'll work where distributed systems meet applied AI: orchestrating models and tools, enabling agents to perform long-running work, and turning rapidly evolving AI capabilities into dependable platform primitives. The challenges span asynchronous workflows, isolated execution, extensible integrations, reliability, observability and cost control. The Toqan platform serves the whole Prosus portfolio and other connected businesses, which means the backend systems you build here have reach far beyond a single team. You'll join a 12-person engineering team in Amsterdam and work closely with product, platform and AI colleagues to ship end-to-end — at pace, without compromising quality. Who You Are You are a senior backend engineer who has moved well past following patterns and into setting them. You're comfortable owning architectural decisions on novel infrastructure — the kind where the right answer isn't obvious and the stakes are real. You think in systems, spot failure modes early, and hold a high bar for production quality without letting perfect block good. The 80/20 mindset comes naturally: you know when to go deep and when to ship. You've likely come from a startup or high-velocity environment where shipping fast wasn't a culture slogan — it was survival. You know how to cut scope without cutting corners, move from zero to production without a safety net, and iterate quickly on systems that are still finding their shape. You're genuinely curious about the AI and LLM space — not as a trend to track, but as a domain where you've already done hands-on integration work and want to go further. AI tools aren't an afterthought in how you work — you use them daily, whether that's Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or OpenAI Codex, and you've developed real judgment about where they accelerate work and where they don't. You operate with low ego, share context freely, and thrive in an environment where autonomy and accountability go hand in hand. Ambiguity doesn't slow you down — it's where you do your best work. What You Bring Strong Go programming skills with a track record of building and operating production backend services Hands-on AWS experience — designing, deploying, and operating cloud-native services at scale Experience integrating LLMs, AI models or tool-calling systems into production applications Familiarity with agentic architectures and protocols such as MCP, A2A A systems mindset, with attention to reliability, scalability, performance and security Experience with CI/CD, automated testing and production observability A record of working across product and platform teams to deliver outcomes end-to-end Regular, thoughtful use of AI coding tools as part of your development workflow Nice to haves Hands-on experience building agentic AI systems that use tools and execute multi-step workflows Experience building or maintaining event-sourced systems Python programming skills Experience with AI or ML infrastructure and developer productivity tooling Your Typical Day No two days look exactly the same. You might design a new capability for the agent runtime, improve how models and tools are orchestrated, investigate a production reliability issue, or take an integration from an early prototype to a secure, observable service. You'll spend much of your time building in Go, reviewing code and making architectural decisions with the team. You'll also work closely with product, platform and AI colleagues to shape requirements, test ideas and ship them safely. Along the way, you'll improve the testing, deployment and observability foundations that let the team move quickly with confidence. About the team: You'll join one of the teams within SumUp's Identity Lifecycle Mission, working on some of the most critical building blocks behind the merchant journey, from onboarding and identity verification to KYC/KYB, regulatory data collection, and managing customer identity throughout the entire lifecycle. Today, many of these capabilities live across different flows, legacy services, and tightly coupled integrations. We're on a journey to bring these pieces together into a more coherent, scalable platform, with shared data models, reusable services, and clear ownership boundaries. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you won't just be maintaining existing systems. You'll have the opportunity to shape how our identity platform evolves, modernise critical services, and help build foundations that can support new regulations, markets, and product requirements without reinventing the wheel every time. You'll be part of one dedicated team, but the challenges we tackle often cross team and domain boundaries. You'll work closely with Engineers, Product, Design, Compliance, Risk, and Operations, giving you the opportunity to influence solutions well beyond your own team. If you enjoy solving complex backend problems, working in a highly collaborative environment, improving reliability, and building scalable capabilities that enable other teams to move faster, this could be an exciting opportunity to make a real impact at SumUp. Build reusable capabilities that power merchant onboarding, identity verification, and KYC/KYB regulatory data collection. Drive reliability and resilience across critical services through better observability, failure handling, incident response, and long-term risk reduction. Work primarily with Go, while maintaining and progressively modernising existing services written in Java. Evolve domain models and service boundaries while reducing legacy complexity, duplicated logic, and tightly coupled integrations, always with a pragmatic, incremental mindset. Own your work end-to-end, from technical design and implementation to rollout and production follow-up. Work across team and domain boundaries, turning ambiguous product and regulatory requirements into clear, scalable technical solutions. Review code and designs, mentor engineers, and help raise engineering standards across the mission. You'll be great for this role if you have: Strong professional experience building and operating production backend systems with high business impact. Experience working with Go and Java and confidence in maintaining and evolving existing Java services. Strong knowledge of API design, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, data modelling, testing, and system design. Experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka and modern observability tools such as Grafana or Honeycomb. Experience deploying and operating services in cloud environments such as AWS, ideally with Docker and Kubernetes. A strong ownership mindset, with the ability to take complex problems from definition through to production. Experience improving the reliability of business-critical systems and turning recurring incidents into lasting engineering improvements. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across Engineering, Product, Compliance, Risk, and Operations. Nice to have: Experience in fintech, payments, KYC/KYB, identity verification, or regulatory systems. Experience translating regulatory and compliance requirements into clear, scalable engineering solutions, while helping bridge the gap between Compliance and Engineering.
