Staff Engineer, EU Infrastructure
Full TimeOn-sitePrincipal
pythongoawsterraformkubernetesgitops+2

About Wolt At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we're building the delivery of (almost) everything and you'll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe. Working at Wolt isn't always easy, but it's definitely exciting. Here you'll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You'll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you're a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life. About the Team Our Infrastructure teams build the foundation that engineers at Wolt, Deliveroo, and DoorDash build on: the compute, cloud, and networking capabilities that enable Engineering teams to develop, deploy, and run services at global scale. The EU Compute team has a specific focus on provisioning, scaling, and the efficient operation of GPU infrastructure for AI and ML workloads. This is an emerging space with plenty of greenfield opportunities. We're looking for a Staff Engineer to be a hands-on technical leader for this infrastructure work that crosses team and brand boundaries. You'll set direction for the platform, turn complex problems into deliverable plans, write and review production code, and help other engineers make sound decisions. It's an exciting time to join: we're building a global platform and the choices made now will shape how engineers across the company ship for years. What you'll be doing You'll own some of the hardest infrastructure problems in the company and make the platform easier to operate and safer to build on. We're determined to build great platform products and user experiences, and you'll be pivotal in making this reality. Day-to-day in this role you'll: Set technical direction for shared AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, balancing reliability, security, developer experience, and cost. Lead substantial initiatives from design through rollout and operation, coordinating dependencies and decisions across Wolt, Deliveroo and DoorDash, focusing on workloads targeting GPUs. Evolve Kubernetes clusters, cloud networking, identity, and infrastructure provisioning to support growing and varied workloads. Build reusable Terraform patterns and self-service tooling that help teams provision infrastructure safely and consistently. Improve deployment and operational practices, including GitOps, observability, capacity planning, incident response and recovery. Use production signals and developer feedback to find platform friction, choose where to invest and measure whether changes actually help. Assist with supporting the platform, with deep focus on GPU infrastructure, as well as broad focus on compute in general. Gracefully sunset legacy infrastructure and tooling, and create strategies to reduce toil. Mentor engineers through design reviews, implementation and incidents, raising the quality of infrastructure work across teams. Our humble expectations Deep experience building and operating Kubernetes and AWS infrastructure in production. Familiarity with GPU workloads and orchestration is a plus. Strong software engineering skills: you use Go, Python or a similar language to build maintainable tools and automation. Experience with infrastructure as code (we use Terraform) and with designing systems that other engineering teams depend on. A track record of leading complex technical work across teams, including architectural decisions, delivery, and operational follow-through. You have the breadth to collaborate and design across team and domain boundaries, and the depth to have hands-on impact. Strong judgment on trade-offs in distributed systems, networking, security, reliability, and cloud cost. Clear communication, and the ability to bring people together around a practical technical direction. What we offer Scope and influence. Shape infrastructure used globally, while staying close to the engineering. Your work will help product teams ship services with greater ease and confidence. Real problems at global scale. Multi-cluster Kubernetes, AI / ML workloads, cloud networking, GitOps, and progressive delivery across a global company. Autonomy and ownership. Set direction and see it through from design to operation, with the backing of a global engineering organisation spanning Europe and the US. Growth. Room to expand your scope, whether through deeper technical leadership or broader cross-domain influence. Great people. Work with talented engineers and leaders in a diverse, international environment, mentoring and learning from others. Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion We're committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company, industry, and cities. That's why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table and the tools, resources, and opportunity to excel. Beware of recruitment scams: DoorDash, Deliveroo, and Wolt will never ask you to pay money or share sensitive financial information during hiring — learn more about our legitimate recruiting process at Recruitment Scam Awareness - DoorDash . Join Planet and be a part of our mission to change the way people see the world. Planet is a global company with employees working remotely world wide and joining us from offices in San Francisco, Washington DC, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and The Netherlands. About the Role: As a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) at Planet, you will drive Planet's largest, most complex efforts that cross many teams and organizational boundaries. You will act as an accelerant, illuminating the path for teams and owning the predictability of execution through the product lifecycle. You will work closely with team leads across multiple time zones to develop and manage end-to-end program plans, including processes, schedules, metrics and risks, and communicate them clearly to stakeholders. This role leads internal program management for Planet's solutions in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), starting with a large, multi-year dedicated satellite constellation and sovereign platform deployment for a public-sector customer. You will be the accountable program owner for Product and Engineering, working alongside the customer-facing program manager to turn contract commitments into one coordinated plan across Product, Engineering, Infrastructure and Space Systems. This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our Berlin office 3 days per week. Impact You'll Own: Own the internal program plan for DACH deliveries: scope, schedule, incremental milestones with definitions of done, and the dependencies across teams. Work daily with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Tech Leads and other TPMs, and with the customer-facing program manager and Customer Success teams who own the customer relationship. Translate customer requirements into clear technical requirements, and work with Product Managers to prioritize requests against the roadmap. Run the program's operating rhythm (cross-team syncs, go/no-go decisions, release coordination) so each meeting ends in decisions and owned actions. Challenge plans for completeness, accuracy, and fit for purpose, and surface risks and conflicts between commitments, priorities and capacity while they are still small. Keep stakeholders from engineering teams to leadership informed of progress, risks and changes, and escalate early when needed. Improve ways of working so each future deployment is faster and more repeatable. What You Bring: 6+ years of program management or software development experience in the areas of SaaS, cloud platforms, data products or geospatial systems, ideally including remote sensing and satellite domain knowledge and experience. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Fluency in written and spoken German and p rofessional working proficiency in English, the language of the company. Experience leading complex technical programs across a matrixed organization and setting priorities independently, including programs with contractual commitments to external customers. Experience with the product lifecycle: concept through development, launch preparation, go-to-market, deprecations, and end-of-life. Analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills paired with the ability to communicate findings and recommendations. Equally comfortable explaining your analyses and recommendations to business leaders as you are discussing technical trade-offs with engineers. Ability to balance the tactical day-to-day with forward-looking improvements to scale operational efficiencies. What Makes You Stand Out: Experience with public-sector customers in the DACH region. Experience with sovereign, private-cloud or on-premises platform deployments. Experience with remote sensing, earth observation data, or geospatial systems. Experience working with remote, worldwide teams. Actively explores AI technologies to automate workflows, improve data, or enhance team productivity. As an FDSE, you'll apply your problem solving ability, creativity, and technical skills to help organizations use their data to drive a real impact in the world. You'll have the opportunity to gain rare insight into and contribute to some of the world's most important industries and institutions. As an FDSE, your responsibilities look similar to those of a startup CTO: you'll work in small teams with minimal supervision and own end-to-end execution of high stakes projects. Your day might span discussing architecture with fellow engineers, wrangling massive-scale data, coding a custom web app, speaking with customer executives, or establishing strategy for your team. Whether you aspire to be an entrepreneur or an engineering leader, we believe Palantir is the best place — with the best colleagues — to learn how. You'll learn how to unpack a problem and understand the costs and consequences of its solution. You'll learn new technologies and languages, and even develop them yourself. You'll work autonomously and make decisions independently, within a community that will support and challenge you as you grow and develop. Core Responsibilities Impact: We take on meaningful and challenging projects that change the world for the better. Ownership: We see projects through from beginning to end, working through any obstacles we may encounter. Collaboration: We work internally with people from a variety of backgrounds — such as other FDSEs, product teams, and Deployment Strategists. We also work externally with our customers, often on site, to understand and solve their problems. Trust: We trust each other to effectively manage time and priorities and give people the space to think for themselves. Growth: We encourage ourselves and our peers to seek new challenges and opportunities for growth, as well as find new ways to innovate and share knowledge. Learning: We often face entirely novel problems where we need to pick up a lot of new knowledge and learn how to use it to make progress. We believe experiential learning is one of the best teachers. What We Value Strong engineering background, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, and Data Science. A highly analytical mindset and eagerness to solve technical problems with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools. Experience or interest in working with and using large scale data to solve valuable business problems. Strong coder with demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals, and comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users. Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision. Willingness and interest to travel as needed to client sites. Ability to travel 25-50% preferred, but may vary by team and location. What We Require Fluency in German Security clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance. Life at Palantir We want every Palantirian to achieve their best outcomes, that's why we celebrate individuals' strengths, skills, and interests, from your first interview to your longterm growth, rather than rely on traditional career ladders. Paying attention to the needs of our community enables us to optimize our opportunities to grow and helps ensure many pathways to success at Palantir. Promoting health and well-being across all areas of Palantirians' lives is just one of the ways we're investing in our community. Learn more at Life at Palantir and note that our offerings may vary by region. In keeping consistent with Palantir's values and culture, we believe employees are "better together" and in-person work affords the opportunity for more creative outcomes. Therefore, we encourage employees to work from our offices to foster connectivity and innovation. Many teams do offer hybrid options (WFH a day or two a week), allowing our employees to strike the right trade-off for their personal productivity. Based on business need, there are a few roles that allow for "Remote" work on an exceptional basis. If you are applying for one of these roles, you must work from the city and or country in which you are employed. If the posting is specified as Onsite, you are required to work from an office. If you want to empower the world's most important institutions, you belong here. Palantir values excellence regardless of background. We are committed to making the application and hiring process accessible to everyone and will provide a reasonable accommodation for those living with a disability. If you need an accommodation for the application or hiring process , please and let us know how we can help. Please note that you will never be asked to submit a payment or share financial information to participate in our interview process.
