Location: Remote within Europe, with regular presence in Bremen Direct Reports: None Working Model: Remote / hybrid. Regular time on-site in Bremen. Mission Own the interface layer for a scientific platform used by research teams to run complex physical experiments. The work is heavier than typical product frontend — live experiment monitoring, workflow graphs, large result sets, and users who are physicists rather than consumers. The Senior Frontend Engineer owns that layer end to end and sets the standard for it. Responsibilities Pillar 1 Frontend Ownership Own the architecture, code and standards for the platform frontend. Build and maintain complex interactive visualisation: directed workflow graphs, live monitoring, large-scale result inspection. Handle long-running asynchronous work properly — progress, failure states, partial results. Lead the migration to the Constructor React component library. Success Metrics and KPIs: interface stability, adoption by the research team, migration delivered. Pillar 2 Quality and Practice Bring test coverage and review discipline to a codebase built at research pace. Establish component standards and a shared design language with the wider Constructor frontend group. Reach into the backend when that is what unblocks the work. Success Metrics and KPIs: test coverage, defects reaching users, review turnaround. Pillar 3 Working with Scientists Work directly with the physicists who use the interface. Understand the experiment, not just the ticket. Turn vague scientific requirements into concrete interface decisions. Accountability: researchers able to run and monitor experiments without asking for help. Requirements Experience 8+ years frontend engineering with strong React. We will also talk to you if your recent work has been Svelte, Vue or Angular. Data visualisation beyond charting libraries — D3, custom SVG, graph layout algorithms. TypeScript at production scale. Comfortable writing backend code in Python or similar when needed. Skills & Competencies Able to own a layer alone and still work well in a team. Honest about technical debt and weaknesses in your own work. Good judgement on when to build custom and when to use what exists. Clear communication with non-frontend colleagues. Education & Languages Degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent practical track record. Fluent English. What This Role Is (and Is Not) This role IS Full ownership of a complex, technically interesting frontend. A role with peers and code review, in a group that values the work. Hands-on individual contribution at senior level. This role is NOT A design role. A management role. Standard CRUD product work. Find Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow

About Heidi Systems Heidi Systems builds the energy OS for real estate. We help property managers and owners get their heating, water and electricity meters online, see consumption in real time and run the yearly utility billing without paper, Excel and site visits. Submetering in Germany is still mostly analog. Meters get read by hand, data sits in PDFs, and tenants see their consumption once a year. We change that end to end: we install the meters and gateways in the building, collect the data and build the web platform property managers work in. We're a small team in Berlin. Product and engineering work directly with the founders, and what you ship lands with real customers fast. The role We're looking for a best-in-class frontend engineer. Someone whose code other engineers learn from. You'll be our senior frontend engineer and own the web platform end to end: architecture, code quality and the day-to-day experience of the property managers using it. The platform is a SvelteKit and TypeScript app. It shows consumption data per building and unit, flags anomalies, manages tenants and owners, and produces the documents for the yearly billing. A lot of it is data-heavy UI, and it has to be right, because the numbers end up on invoices. You'll work closely with our backend engineers and the founders, and you'll help onboard and mentor junior developers and interns as the team grows. What you'll do Own the frontend architecture of our SvelteKit app: routing, load functions, SSR, state and how we talk to the backend via oRPC Ship features end to end, from a rough idea with the founders to production, often before the design is final Build the data-heavy parts of the product: consumption dashboards, notification rules, tenant and owner management, billing documents Set up and maintain our component library on Tailwind and DaisyUI so the UI stays consistent as we add features Raise the bar on quality: strict TypeScript, Vitest coverage, code reviews, a sane PR flow Shape the API contract together with backend (types, Zod schemas, error handling) so frontend and backend stay in sync Mentor juniors and interns through reviews and pairing What you bring 5+ years of professional frontend experience, ideally at startups or other fast-moving product teams 2+ years building production apps with Svelte and SvelteKit, with a deep understanding of its reactivity model, stores, lifecycle, routing, load functions and SSR Strong TypeScript: strict mode, generics, utility types, and the judgment to know when types help and when they get in the way Hands-on with Tailwind CSS (DaisyUI is a plus) Experience with RPC-style APIs (oRPC, tRPC or similar) and typed contracts between frontend and backend Testing as a habit: Vitest, JSDom or comparable tooling Comfortable in a Unix environment (Linux or macOS), with Git, branches and PRs You've made architecture decisions on a real product and can explain the trade-offs You work well with little oversight and ship in small, frequent steps Fluent English, written and spoken You're in Berlin or willing to move, and you're in our office 2 to 3 days a week How we work Hybrid in Berlin. You're in the office 2 to 3 days a week. That's fixed. The rest of the week you work from wherever you like. Short paths. You talk to the founders directly, most decisions take one call. Real ownership. The frontend is yours to shape, and you'll set many of the standards the team builds on. Real impact. Your work runs in buildings across Germany and makes energy use visible where people live. Room to grow with the company as the engineering team gets bigger. Your next steps If you match most of these requirements and are ready to help digitize the building sector, we encourage you to apply. You will join a growing team where your work directly shapes the future of energy management in real estate. Find more English Speaking Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow
At NiCE, we don't limit our challenges. We challenge our limits. Always. We're ambitious. We're game changers. And we play to win. We set the highest standards and execute beyond them. And if you're like us, we can offer you the ultimate career opportunity that will light a fire within you. Lead Software Architect At NICE, we don't limit our challenges. We challenge our limits. Always. We're ambitious. We're game changers. And we play to win. We set the highest standards and execute beyond them. And if you're like us, we can offer you the ultimate career opportunity that will light a fire within you. Why this role matters now This role sits at the centre of our AI-led delivery transformation. We are rebuilding our digital evidence platform as AI-Native, with AI tooling acting as a daily partner from design through verification. The right architect is not someone with a long list of AI credentials - AI moves too fast for credentials to mean much. The right architect is someone who already uses AI in their daily work, has formed clear judgement about where it belongs and where it does not, and is curious enough to learn the next tool when their current one is superseded. So, what's the role all about? We are looking for a talented Architect and Software Developer to join our team. You must: Be able to communicate effectively, including via email, instant message, phone, and video conferencing tools. Be fierce in your pursuit of product quality. Be an excellent problem solver with an active interest in the latest design and development tools and technologies. Be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about process. Be practically fluent with AI tooling - using Copilot, Claude Code, Codex or equivalent in your daily work, not just experimentally. We will discuss specific examples at interview. Be able to recognize opportunities for optimization and enhancement of process, product architecture and delivery based on the evolutions in AI. Have clear judgement about where AI belongs in a public-safety platform, and where it does not. How will you make an impact? You will be responsible for: Owning the architecture, and carrying out design, AI-led implementation and validation in Cloud-based, multi-threaded, multi-server environments -working in our AI-led delivery method where code, tests and decisions are AI-drafted, with you setting intent, orchestrating implementation, and validating outputs. Leading technical decisions on architectural direction using a collaborative, team-based approach. Ensuring the architecture takes into account the concerns of security, scalability, compatibility, maintainability — and the responsible, evidenced use of AI in both build-time and run-time. Performing testing of your work, fixing defects, and helping to resolve customer support cases. Ensuring that the team adheres to the architectural direction and standards. Mentoring and coaching team members in architecture practices, AI-led delivery techniques, and the discipline of validating AI outputs. Liaising with Product Management during planning sessions. Have you got what it takes? Solid experience developing applications in C# using Visual Studio/Visual Studio Code. Proven track record of breaking down complex market requirements into secure, scalable and resilient system designs. Experience with multi-tenant cloud solutions. Experience working in collaborative multidisciplinary teams. Experience creating maintainable code and using source control solutions such as DevOps, GIT or similar. Experience of unit testing, code reviews, and other product quality disciplines. Solid understanding of the principles of network security, authentication, and authorization. Experience of working with databases using Entity Framework or similar. Good knowledge of SOLID principles. Experience creating RESTful APIs and ensuring API extensibility. Recent practical experience using AI tooling (Copilot, Claude Code, Codex or equivalent) in your daily work, not just experimentation. Comfortable describing what worked, what did not, and what you decided. Output discipline: you remain accountable for the architecture you are responsible for, whatever helped you produce it. Comfort with probabilistic systems, and clear judgement about when to use AI in a high-trust domain. Learning velocity: able to ramp on a new AI tool or technique in days, not months. You will have an advantage if you also have: Security best practice (OWASP top ten) Azure SQL Server DevOps, Pipelines, TeamCity, GitHub Windows services Experience using AI tooling specifically in the architect role - for design review, ADR drafting, threat modelling, contract design, or similar. Familiarity with AI-Native software patterns (agentic workflows, evaluation harnesses, prompt-and-response evaluation, evidence packets). What we do not require We do not require you to be an AI expert. AI moves too fast for credentials to mean much. We require curiosity, recent practical use, output discipline, and the judgement to ship under accountability. About the interview process The final stage includes a working session using our AI tooling. The aim is to see how you think - how you set intent, validate outputs, and make decisions - not to test memorised knowledge. What's in it for you?
