Certified as a Great Place to Work around the world, Baringa has been recognised by the Financial Times in 22 categories of its UK Leading Management Consultants rankings, and by Forbes for four consecutive years as one of the World's Best Management Consulting Firms. Our Solutions & AI Lab (SAIL) practice are looking for an experienced AI Architect to join the team. Our Solutions & AI Labs practice helps clients control their data, turn it into actionable insight, and better leverage it through AI and Machine Learning solutions embedded directly into business processes. We support clients across a range of industries and offer deep expertise in AI/ML, Cloud, Platform Engineering and Managed Solutions. We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager to serve as an AI Architect — someone who can design the end-to-end architecture for enterprise AI platforms, lead consultancy engagements, and grow our AI & Solutions Engineering capability. The AI Architect role owns the technical blueprint for AI-enabled solutions delivered in and around our clients' environments, combining deep architectural specialism with the commercial and leadership skills to shape and grow our practice. This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of client advisory, AI platform architecture and hands-on delivery leadership — and who has a genuine passion for bringing AI systems to production at scale. What you will be doing As a Senior Manager and AI Architect, you will own and lead the architecture of complex AI programmes end-to-end — from shaping the opportunity and winning the work, through solution design, delivery governance and team leadership. You will bring SME-level depth in enterprise AI architecture and apply it to create real, lasting value for our clients. Although we do not expect you to be an expert in every technology listed below simultaneously, our team consists of people who can advise clients as well as bring deep technical knowledge when needed. Key responsibilities span the following areas. Engagement & delivery leadership Own and lead the architecture of complex AI and data transformation engagements, taking accountability for solution design, quality, technical risk and client outcomes. Lead and resource multi-disciplinary delivery teams — architects, engineers, data scientists and consultants — providing clear direction, technical oversight and people development. Manage engagement resourcing: forecast team requirements, work with practice leadership to staff engagements, and develop the talent pipeline through mentoring of junior practitioners. Proactively identify and manage delivery and architectural risks in complex stakeholder environments, escalating appropriately and maintaining client confidence throughout. Communicate clearly to both technical teams and senior client stakeholders, translating architectural complexity into actionable insight and decisive recommendation. Conduct rigorous architecture and design reviews and uphold engineering standards across every engagement you lead. Stakeholder management & advisory Act as a trusted advisor to client architects, CTOs, CDAOs and engineering leads, earning trust through depth of knowledge and a demonstrable delivery track record. Build and maintain strong, senior client relationships, navigating competing priorities across business, technology and risk functions. Facilitate architecture workshops and decision forums, driving alignment across diverse stakeholder groups and securing buy-in for target-state designs. Translate business strategy into architectural roadmaps, sequencing investment and change in a way that balances ambition with deliverability. Business development & bid support Play a leading role in business development: identifying new opportunities, shaping propositions, and supporting or leading bids and tender responses for AI and technology engagements. Contribute to proposal writing, articulating our capabilities and differentiators, including authoring technical and architecture sections of bid responses to client tenders and RFPs. Support practice-level growth initiatives, including account planning, capability development, and go-to-market positioning for AI architecture and solutions engineering services. Technical architecture — what you will design You will be the design authority for enterprise AI platforms, able to reason across the full stack and make credible technology selections. We expect expert-level depth in several of the areas below and working knowledge across the rest. AI platform & cloud architecture Architect AI and Data Platforms using a mix of technologies including Databricks, Snowflake, Claude Enterprise and the native services of Azure, AWS and GCP - selecting the right tool for the workload rather than defaulting to a single vendor. Design for scalability, security, cost efficiency and multi-cloud / hybrid patterns, with a strong grasp of containerisation, infrastructure-as-code, event-driven architectures and CI/CD. Balance technical excellence with delivery pragmatism and commercial realities, championing the path from prototype to production. Enterprise AI ecosystem integration Bring awareness of the broader enterprise landscape and how AI integrates with core operational systems such as SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow and other systems of record and engagement. Design integration patterns that let AI capabilities interoperate safely with enterprise data, identity, workflow and process automation platforms – including MCP and A2A and how these capabilities enable an enterprise Agent mesh. Understand the data, governance and change implications of embedding AI into mission-critical enterprise processes. Orchestration & control plane Architect the orchestration and control-plane layer that governs how AI capabilities are exposed, routed and managed across the enterprise. Design MCP, AI and LLM gateway layers for secure, observable and policy-controlled access to models and tools. Design agent and skills registries — including recommending suitable technologies and patterns — to enable discovery, reuse and governance of agentic capabilities. Define the control plane for routing, rate limiting, cost management, model selection and version control across multiple model providers. AI solution design Design retrieval and reasoning architectures including RAG, corrective RAG (CRAG), and agentic patterns, selecting the right approach for a given business problem. Architect agent harnesses and their components — planning, memory, tool use, state management and multi-agent coordination. Design prompt strategies, context management and grounding approaches for reliable, production-grade LLM behaviour. Evaluation, guardrails & responsible AI Design evaluation frameworks and guardrails that make AI systems safe, reliable and measurable — covering accuracy, safety, bias, and task success. Embed responsible-AI and governance controls aligned to emerging regulation and client risk appetites. Define human-in-the-loop and fallback strategies for high-stakes use cases. Observability & operations Architect logging, monitoring, tracing and cost-observability across the AI stack, including model, agent and platform telemetry. Design for drift detection, performance monitoring and continuous evaluation in production (LLMOps / MLOps). Establish operational patterns for reliability, incident response and lifecycle management of AI systems at scale. Your skills and experience We're seeking a technically credible, commercially aware leader who brings a rare combination of architectural depth, delivery accountability and client advisory skill — someone energised by the complexity of taking AI solutions to production at scale. 7+ years in technology consulting, architecture or AI/ML engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or lead-architect role — including accountability for end-to-end solution design, resourcing and commercial outcomes. Proven ability to architect enterprise AI platforms across a mix of technologies (Databricks, Snowflake, Azure, AWS, GCP) with strong design capability across cloud, data and AI domains. Working understanding of how AI integrates with major operational systems such as SAP, Salesforce and ServiceNow. Hands-on knowledge of agentic AI, LLM gateways, MCP, RAG/CRAG, agent harnesses, evaluations and guardrails, and AI observability. Demonstrable experience designing and leading data & AI transformation programmes, and building high-performing teams in complex stakeholder environments — engaging comfortably at CTO, CDAO or engineering-director level. Track record of supporting or leading bid and proposal activity, including writing technical and architecture sections of responses to tenders and RFPs. A clear, confident communicator able to make the complex accessible for technical and non-technical audiences alike. Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or a related discipline, or equivalent depth through relevant certifications (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Google Professional ML Engineer, Databricks / Azure / GCP architecture credentials). Industry experience We would particularly like to hear from people who have designed and led data & AI transformation programmes across one or more of the following sectors: Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Retail Pharmaceuticals & Life Sciences Manufacturing Financial Services Government and Public Services Prior experience as an embedded or forward-deployed architect within a client environment, and exposure to regulated industries would be desired. At Atominvest, you'll be working on something very exciting: the future of work, investments and sustainability/ ethical investing for the world's best investors and delivering a positive impact through this. Based on the growth we are experiencing, we think we're on to something big. It won't be easy. Joining a scale up business is an amazing and rewarding challenge, pushing well beyond the boundaries of natural growth cycles. You'll move quicker than feels comfortable and be brilliant at continually re-prioritizing what must get done to keep Atominvest growing year over year at the pace of the best SaaS companies on the planet. We've gone from zero to ten, now we're looking to go from ten to one hundred! About the role Hi, I'm Thomas, VP Engineering at Atominvest. This is the hire I'm most excited about, so I wanted to tell you about it myself. You'll own the platform our clients run on and build the AI development harness our engineers work in day to day. That work runs from infrastructure to application code, so we're looking for an experienced engineer with breadth across both, and depth in at least one. Together, it's what lets a small, lean team, working alongside AI agents, ship like a much bigger one. By platform, we mean everything our product and our engineers stand on: infrastructure, security, test automation, developer experience, and the agent pipelines that run through all of them. It's a broad, hands-on role. You'll write infrastructure as code for a new service one day and address network vulnerabilities the next, then enhance our AI development harness and release a new feature, all within the same month. You might be a platform engineer who loves shipping product, or a full-stack engineer who has run serious production infrastructure. Either works. As deployments grow more complex, the team needs your depth in infrastructure and distributed systems. You'll strengthen the architecture and make the design decisions the platform will rest on for years. Those decisions should leave room to grow, because future products may bring much larger volumes of data than we handle today. It has to stay dependable while we do it. Our software needs to be available around the clock, every day of the year, and data integrity is critical. Our clients use Atominvest to report to their own investors, so a wrong number matters as much as an outage. Security, reliability and audit-readiness matter too. If you enjoy getting those right without slowing everything else down, you'll find plenty of fun things to work on. The machine that builds the product We're becoming AI-native. Agents do more and more of the mechanical work of writing code, and engineers build the machine that builds the product: the architecture, the specs, the limits agents work within, and the evals that tell us whether their output is right. I think that moves an engineer's leverage upstream. When code is cheap, the scarce things are judgement and understanding. Which problem is worth solving? What does good look like for the person using it? Is the output actually right? Did what we shipped help? The best engineers I've worked with always solved the end problem, with code as the medium. Now that's most of the job. That's why product and user understanding sit at the centre of how we work. An engineer who knows our clients' workflows can point agents at the right problem and spot when the result is subtly wrong. Without that, agents just build the wrong thing faster. Your part is the AI development harness that makes this safe. That means sandboxed environments with synthetic data, scoped and audited access to logs and alerts, and evals and validation gates in CI. It also means firm lines, enforced by tooling, that keep production deploys and secrets in human hands, and client data out of reach of development agents. You'll also build the agent orchestration pipelines that run in three places: in how we build software, in AI workflows inside the product our clients use, and in the internal tools our implementation team uses to onboard and configure clients. What you'll do Build the machine that builds the product Most of your time goes here. Build our AI development harness. Self-service infrastructure, a reproducible development environment, and the sandboxes, guardrails and evals that let agents take on more of the work safely, with results we can measure. Automate quality. Build the QA automation pipeline: automated tests, validation gates and release checks that give us confidence in every change, including the ones agents write. Orchestrate agents across the business. Build pipelines that run agents reliably and safely in our product workflows and our internal implementation tools, not just in engineering. Own the platform Own our infrastructure. We're migrating to ECS. You'll strengthen our ECS architecture, see the move through in safe, reversible stages, bring every resource under infrastructure as code, and retire the old deployment model. Build security into the platform. Tenant-scoped credentials, per-tenant secrets, least-privilege access, and the audit trail that SOC 2 and our clients' security teams expect. Make production observable. Set up the monitoring, alerting and tracing we rely on, and build playbooks for on-call and incident response which is shared amongst the team. Work across the stack Make the application changes the harness needs, such as synthetic data, test hooks and the specs agents work from. Ship product. Pick up application work in TypeScript and React alongside the team. Over time, you'll learn the codebase as well as the platform it runs on. Grow the team around you. Write the design notes and runbooks, pair with and review the work of other engineers, and mentor those who want to grow into infrastructure, so the platform never depends on one person. Your first six months Get the first parts of "the machine" running, and show that they make the team faster without lowering quality. At the moment all of our end to end testing is done manually by our Product team. That's a massive manual overhead that bottlenecks our product development. You'll help build our AI-powered QA automation pipeline, so every change, whether a person or an agent wrote it, is tested automatically before it reaches clients. Strengthen the ECS architecture and complete the move with no disruption to clients. Get the platform fully into code, with tenant isolation and least privilege designed in. Put in place the monitoring and on-call foundations the team will build on. How you'll work You'll own this area rather than work through a ticket queue. You'll decide what to build and when it's good enough, write your decisions down so others can challenge them, and tell us when something isn't worth doing. You'll work closely with Product from the start of significant work, because the platform exists to serve clients and the engineers building for them. You and I will work together every day. We'll shape the technical direction together and think through the hard calls, and you'll have a direct line to every decision that affects your work. I'll back your judgement, and I'll expect you to push back when you think I'm wrong. This is an individual contributor role, but we expect you to multiply the team: leading different areas at different times, and delivering through others as well as through your own work. You'll probably enjoy this if You'd rather build a platform properly than keep patching one. You're product-minded. You've probably worked at a startup or scale-up, or even founded something yourself. Seeing your work out in the world, solving real problems, is what motivates you. You ask who a change is for before you ask how to build it. You already work this way. Agents write much of your code, and your time goes on design, specs and judging the output. You've built AI tooling for yourself, and probably for others on your team. You get satisfaction from making other engineers faster. You're comfortable writing Terraform, an API endpoint and an answer to a client's security questionnaire in the same week. You've been the person others come to with hard problems, and you've changed your mind publicly when the evidence said so. This probably isn't for you if You want a pure DevOps or SRE role. You want to manage people right now. These opportunities might exist in the future, but for now we're small, lean and as flat as possible. What you'll bring Very few people match every line. If most of this describes you, we'd like to hear from you. Deep, hands-on AWS. Several years running production workloads on ECS or EKS, with a solid grasp of IAM, networking and Lambda. Infrastructure as code as a habit , with Terraform or CloudFormation, including bringing existing hand-built resources under code. Scaling distributed systems. You've taken systems through real growth in load and data, and can teach others what you learnt. Single-tenant SaaS experience. You know the isolation trade-offs and how to keep one client's data and credentials away from another's. Security and compliance as part of engineering: least privilege, secrets management, and evidence for SOC 2 or ISO 27001. Production experience: on-call, incidents, post-mortems, and observability tooling such as Datadog, Grafana or Honeycomb. Full-stack product building. Senior TypeScript and Node.js, plus React, with a track record of shipping features end to end yourself, not just supporting the people who do. Test automation and CI/CD. You've designed pipelines that test at the right levels and release safely, and you keep them fast and simple. Tooling you've built for AI agents , not just used: agent configuration and orchestration, MCP servers or similar integrations, evals, automated review. Our stack TypeScript, Node.js, React and MongoDB Atlas, running on AWS. CircleCI and Bitbucket. AI coding agents are part of everyday work. You don't need experience of all of these. How we hire We want to see how you actually work, so there are no whiteboard puzzles. Screening call with me (20 minutes) Competencies interview with me (30 minutes) Technical deep dive with a few of our engineers (90 minutes) Culture fit interview with our CEO, Hemal (30 minutes) I'll be your main point of contact throughout. You'll know what to expect before each stage, and if we don't make an offer, I'll give you feedback. Find Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow
