Norman is building an AI accountant that helps small businesses manage invoicing, accounting, and taxes. We're a small team based in Berlin. As Founder's Associate, you'll work directly with the founders across the full customer loop. You'll talk to customers in German, help them get into the product, support them when they're stuck, and help them decide whether to buy—honestly, not with a hard sell. Beyond that, you'll take on business development, product feedback, and ops work that keeps Norman moving. This is a broad early-stage role across customer success, support, BD, product, and ops. Full-time, remote within Germany. Tasks Take inbound calls and chats with people who found Norman and want to know if it fits their business. Run demos and guided walkthroughs in German, tailored to their workflow. Help people onboard: setup, first tasks, and day-to-day product questions. Identify product gaps and opportunities for improvement from these conversations. Help get them to production. Own the purchase conversation: clarify fit, handle objections, and help suitable customers decide and get started. No sales quota or commission today—judgment and follow-through matter more than pressure. Support current users when they're stuck or considering next steps (customer support + success). Help with business development: partnerships, outbound experiments, and turning strong conversations into pipeline where it makes sense. Use Norman every day, catch friction early, and feed clear examples back into product. Work with founders on product priorities: document recurring questions, objections, and workflow gaps; help turn them into better onboarding, help content, and product decisions. Take on ops work that keeps a small company running smoothly (process, tools, follow-ups, light project ownership). Help with webinars, short product videos, or a small community as we grow education around Norman. Requirements Native-level German (spoken and written) for confident, natural customer conversations. Willingness to wear many hats in an early-stage startup—CS, support, BD, product feedback, and ops in the same week. Strong listening: ask useful questions, explain software patiently, and avoid jargon. You learn products and processes fast and care why people (and systems) get stuck. You stay organized and follow through across calls, tickets, BD threads, and internal ops. Based in Germany. Nice to have: SaaS/fintech experience or experience with tools for Freiberufler and small businesses. Familiarity with invoicing, bookkeeping, or German tax workflows (no Steuerberater required). CRM experience; you've done demos, support, partnerships, or light ops/project work before. Interest in teaching in public (webinars, short videos, community). Benefits Work remotely within Germany. Direct work with founders in a small team—high ownership, real impact. Broad mandate across customers, product, and the company—not a siloed role. Your feedback and work show up quickly in how Norman grows. Interested? Send your CV or LinkedIn plus a short note covering your customer-facing (or early-startup) experience, why this role, and one example of helping someone get unstuck—a customer, a process, or a product. At Affinidi, we're building the Trust Fabric product suite to give AI agents verifiable identity, policy guardrails, and real-time observability, so organisations can move from promising proofs of concept to secure, governed production deployments with confidence. This is a role for builders. You'll work side by side with engineering to turn ambitious ideas into real, high-impact products, fast, iteratively, and with strong product judgment. You'll take on complex, ambiguous challenges that don't come with a playbook, bring structure to what matters, and help the team move with clarity, speed, and conviction. If you like combining technical depth, product thinking, and execution, you'll fit right in. Drive focused, outcome-oriented delivery: Balance user needs, market context, and execution speed while focusing on getting working solutions into users' hands for validation, then iterate based on feedback and measurable outcomes. Work through ambiguity : Take ownership of areas where requirements are not fully defined, structure problems into clear, actionable paths forward, and maintain momentum even as direction continues to evolve. Own product direction: Contribute to product strategy and roadmap definition, align short-term priorities with longer-term platform thinking, and make thoughtful trade-offs that support both delivery and scalability. Collaborate across stakeholders : Work across engineering, design, and go-to-market teams, engage effectively with senior and executive stakeholders, and bring alignment and clarity in environments with diverse perspectives. Be developer-obsessed : Understand developer workflows and key pain points, and help improve integration, usability, and the overall product experience. What we're looking for Core experience : You bring 5+ years of experience in Technical Product Management, a strong technical background that lets you engage deeply with engineering topics, hands-on experience working with APIs, systems, and integrations, and a proven track record of delivering products in close collaboration with engineering teams. Technical depth : You are comfortable understanding how systems are designed and operate in practice, able to engage in technical discussions, challenge assumptions, and evaluate trade-offs, and willing to go into detail when needed by reviewing flows, investigating issues, or clarifying implementation approaches. Mindset : You take ownership from problem to outcome, are comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving priorities, combine structured thinking with a bias toward action, and can move between big-picture strategy and practical execution. Collaboration & communication : You communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, are comfortable working with experienced, highly engaged stakeholders, and know how to build alignment and drive decisions forward. Nice to have : It's a plus if you have had exposure to identity, distributed systems, or similar domains, and experience in fast-paced, product-led environments. What is Flagstone? Flagstone is many things. An online savings platform, reinventing how individuals, businesses, and charities manage, protect, and grow their cash. A diverse group of people, bound by a collaborative spirit, and shared purpose. And lastly, a thriving, profitable business – where smart people do their best work. Each definition shares a common thread: our unique culture. It's our pride and joy. And our competitive advantage. A feel for our culture: To revolutionise the savings market, we need to be at our best. But high performance takes more than talent – it takes a culture of kindness, respect, and growth. That's why we're building a diverse, inclusive community, where your voice is heard and valued. Where, with close support and room to develop, you can surpass even your own expectations. And be rewarded for it. We may not change the world, but we can change the world of financial technology. And all it takes is a winning mix of drive, talent, and empathy. Our culture celebrates all three. But enough about us. Let's talk about you. Does this sound like you? You're a passionate and experienced Staff Engineer specialising in front-end and mobile, who's excited to forge a new way to save! You set the technical bar for React and React Native across a tribe of squads, drive cross-team initiatives, and act as a force multiplier - coaching engineers, shaping architecture, and representing Flagstone in the wider engineering community. You'll partner with squads, Engineering Team Leads, and Product to identify how technology can solve business challenges and take a long-term view on company value. You'll also play a crucial role in mentoring and coaching engineers, helping them grow their system design skills and ship robust, scalable solutions. As a technical leader, you'll provide strategic guidance while also contributing hands-on to key projects. This will focus on: Technical Strategy: Set the front-end and mobile technical vision in collaboration with Engineering Team Leads, aligning with wider business objectives. Cross-Squad Leadership: Originate and lead horizontal engineering initiatives across the tribe; author and shepherd RFCs from proposal to adoption. Solution Delivery: Contribute directly to building and maintaining high-quality React and React Native systems while supporting and unblocking other engineers. Architecture & Design: Own cross-platform architecture decisions for web and mobile (React, React Native, TypeScript), ensuring scalable, reliable, and efficient design with a forward-looking approach. Design Systems: Lead the evolution of our shared design system across web and mobile, driving consistency, accessibility, and developer velocity across squads. Mentorship & Multiplier Impact: Coach engineers in system design, coding standards, and testing; start initiatives that others complete; delegate to protect bandwidth for the highest-leverage work. Communities of Practice: Drive adoption of front-end and mobile engineering practices through CoP leadership and engagement across the tribe. Horizon Scanning: Identify emerging front-end and mobile technologies, build proof-of-concepts, and create roadmaps for adoption. Operational Excellence: Champion the "you build it, you run it" philosophy - driving pipeline observability, zero-downtime deployments, robust monitoring, and alerting for front-end applications. Resilience & Performance: Design solution-wide UI resilience (graceful degradation, back-pressure, retry strategies) and own performance standards across web and mobile. Quality, Security & Compliance: Own threat modelling and security hardening for tribe front-end products; maintain high standards through code review, secure coding practices, and risk management. External Representation: Represent Flagstone externally through conference talks, podcasts, or published content; help attract senior engineering talent through your network and reputation. Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, designers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business needs. What you'll bring: Proven experience in a Staff Engineer (or equivalent) role with a front-end and mobile focus. Deep expertise in React and React Native with TypeScript , including cross-platform architecture. Track record of owning and evolving a design system used across web and mobile applications. Strong system architecture and design skills, with thorough understanding of SOLID principles, TDD, DDD, and software design patterns . Experience designing for resilience and performance at scale (graceful degradation, zero-downtime deployments, observability, performance budgets). Experience with Azure development and cloud-based infrastructure , including CI/CD and pipeline observability. Experience owning threat modelling and security hardening for front-end products; strong grasp of OWASP and secure coding practices. Track record of originating and shepherding cross-team initiatives or RFCs to adoption. Excellent coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills - with evidence of being a force multiplier, not just a strong individual contributor. Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking. Effective stakeholder management and influencing skills. Comfortable representing Flagstone externally (talks, writing, community engagement) - or keen to start. Agile and Scrum practices experience.
