*About Us* Lam Legal ? Trial Lawyers is a growing Vancouver civil litigation firm. We handle commercial, estate, construction and personal injury files, and we run a close-knit, drama-free office where people are trusted to own their work. We are hiring an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to support our lawyers on active litigation files. You will keep files moving, stay on top of court deadlines, work directly with clients and opposing counsel, and docket your own time the way a paralegal does. *Legal Support* * Prepare, format and file pleadings, applications, affidavits and chambers records. * Track limitation dates and court deadlines, and maintain lawyers' calendars. * Coordinate examinations for discovery, mediations, IMEs, expert appointments and trial bookings with clients and opposing counsel. * Draft and manage correspondence with clients, counsel, experts and the courts. * Assist with document production and organizing lists of documents. * Open, maintain and close files, and keep the file system clean. *Docketing Your Time* Like our paralegals, you are a timekeeper. Your work is billed to clients, so you record it as you go. * Enter your own time in CosmoLex throughout the day, in 0.1-hour units, against the file you are working on ? reviewing an email 0.1, drafting a letter 0.3, a call with a client 0.2. * Write clear, specific descriptions a client would understand if they read the invoice. * Keep your docket current daily rather than reconstructing it at month end. * Ask when you are not sure which file your time belongs to. We would far rather you ask than guess. This is timekeeping, not bookkeeping. You will not be doing accounts receivable, chasing invoices or reconciling trust ? our billing team handles all of that. *What We're Looking For* * At least 2 years of continuous experience working in a law firm as a legal assistant, legal administrative assistant, paralegal or law clerk. * Strong organizational skills and real attention to detail. * Clear, professional written and verbal communication. * Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat. * Able to juggle competing requests and re-prioritize calmly. * Reliable, punctual, and happy to be in the office five days a week. *Strongly Preferred* * Experience docketing your own time and billing it to clients ? recording time in 0.1-hour units against client files in CosmoLex, PCLaw, Clio, Soluno or similar. We will train you on CosmoLex, so you do not need our software specifically. *Nice to Have* * Civil litigation background ? commercial, estate, construction or personal injury. * Familiarity with BC Supreme Court filing and e-filing procedures. * Legal Administrative Assistant or paralegal certificate, completed or in progress. * A second language, particularly Cantonese, Mandarin or Punjabi. *What We Offer* * $55,000 ? $60,000 per year, depending on experience, on a 35-hour week ? 9:00 to 5:00, with a full hour for lunch. No evenings, no weekends, no on-call. * Extended health and dental coverage. * Free on-site parking. * Paid time off and casual dress. * A real path forward ? we promote from within. * A small, supportive team where your work is visible and valued. *How to Apply* Please submit your resume and a short cover letter through Indeed. Tell us about your law firm experience ? which firms, which practice areas, and how long you were at each ? and whether you have docketed your own time, and in what software. We review applications as they arrive and move quickly on strong candidates. *Opening starting October 26, 2026, for a Part-Time Litigation Law Clerk, working approximately 28?32 hours per week at $26/hour, with flexible scheduling.* This position will initially serve as a training and onboarding period. This work is non legal aid criminal law work along with civil litigation, being mostly wrongful dismissal litigation. Both areas of law have constant deadlines. The criminal law work is procedurally challenging since the rules vary slightly from County to County. Also, if there is a Section 11(b) Charter application, the applicable OCJ court practice direction now mandates a chart showing what was done and when. The civil law work involves the thoughtful creation of affidavits of documents and law briefs and motion records, along with the chasing of examination for discovery undertakings etc. Filing of same with the court, requires interaction with the court computer. That takes its own kind of patience! We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to assist approximately 28-32 hours per week in a small, open-concept office. The practice consists of approximately 60% civil litigation and 40% criminal law. Familiarity with CaseLines and the Ontario Court Portal would be considered an asset. The successful candidate must be quiet, methodical, and well organized, with the ability to work independently. Scheduling is flexible. The candidate will report to the lawyer, senior law clerk, and office manager during the training period. Starting rate is $26/hour during the training period. It is suggested that the candidate do the projects that take considerable thought and attention to detail, before 9 in the morning and leave the balance of the day to the fun/stressful constant email/phone barrages. A great attitude, attention to detail, computer skills and good writing skills will come in handy, but the most important quality a candidate should have is resilience. Attention to detail, good organizational and letter writing skills, basic math are essential. Knowledge of PC Law and Paralegal skills would be nice but not essential This job will either be fun, or very stressful, depending on your personality. The successful candidate should have a vehicle for serving claims, and will need to have a clean criminal record, as the occasional cash retainer will come in. The office is located in Hyde Park.
